Disclaimer. I am not anti-relationship. I do plan on marrying and having children some day, however… just not while I’m a mere 2 decades old.

(Warning: my habitual sarcasm took over on this one)
So your best friend breaks up with her boyfriend of 2 weeks. What on earth is she going to do with all of his sweatshirts, flannels, and
Freedom. Need I say more?
Okay, I will. College is your time to grow as an individual and do all those things you want to do before you are buried in the responsibilities of real adulthood. Being single allows you to travel where you want when you want without any questions asked. Friends going on a weekend road trip to Yosemite? Summer internship in Italy? FOMO is not a thing because you are always free to jump on any opportunity your friends throw out there to partake in shenanigans. Which is why not having that good ol' ball and chain during these times is key to the success of what is supposed to be the best years of your life.
Separation anxiety would be taking ahold of any boyfriend’s mind if their girlfriend (or vice versa) was presented with any of these opportunities, and he/she is bound to make his/her opinion known. In defense to those not single, with the right person you obviously will not feel suffocated, however, there’s an extra little bit of carefree freedom that comes with singleness.
It’s not about the money, money… Or is it?
Think of all the money you are saving simply on Valentine’s day alone.
The energy you will save
While everyone else is riding Tower of Terror with no seat belt, money falling out of their pockets, emotionally exhausted, you are on Disneyland’s It’s a Small World, sailing through smooth waters, exploring the world with happy music as a soundtrack to your day.
