Feeling so very RAW...

I had to take a timeout from writing because if I didn't I probably would have written some un-politically correct articles about the state of America and the bullshit that has been happening lately. Between the racial tensions of the community as well as our elected public servants we vote into office. Now I have come off the bench refreshed and renewed with vigor on how I will approach this particular topic.

Black lives Matter is not just a black issue it is a brown issue and a non-Euro-American cause. Euro-America you cannot dictate how I'm suppose to feel especially lately; while driving and a N-word or a B-word are being yelled at me while driving by a Caucasian man in a Beemer, because he felt you needed to know you are inferior to his superiority. One by being a blasian (black and asian) and two by being a woman who knows to avoid his insults without retaliating.

I had a dear friend who said to unfriend her on social network because she did not agree with my feelings about what happened to Mr. Sterling and Mr. Castille,I was told by this dear friend that no matter what I should support cops, funny thing is I do support Cops. I have cops in my family like Lacy Johnson Sr., Cody Johnson, and Joey Caraway, I even have friends in the department like Kendale Adams who is a big advocate of giving back to our community.

I am sure they will agree that they have spoken to kids of a darker hue to be on your best behavior when approached by law enforcement. My intelligence factor I know is rooted in common sense and I believe that some people are feeling threatened by the fact that we are protesting the unfair treatment we have been on the receiving end for hundreds of years. When I was watching Roots the rebooted version, the movie quoted a statistic that according to the one-drop rule, almost 7.8 million white people are considered black.

All I have to say about that is welcome to America the melting pot of society. My family has many different dimensions, colors, sizes, and if we were the same life would be boring. I also have a lot of friends I call my family who came out in support of me and let me be my authentic self on and off social media. My heart is telling me if I want change I have to be the change, invoke change, and demand change. I plan to do this with working in tandem with law enforcement and the community I hold so dear.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
