Below you will read three reasons as to why I believe that people oftentimes fret over texting with boys, as well as three reasons as to why you shouldn't. I hope that somebody in the world can relate and perhaps even find strength in my words. Stay strong. Love yourself.
1. You're Worried

Did he see it? Is he ignoring me? Does he even care!? These are all questions that I have oftentimes found myself frantically pushing against in my head after sending any sort of text message or DM to the boy that I'm "currently interested in". Whether it's concern over whether or not he's just as invested in me as I am in him, or if it's simply the anxiety brought on when talking to the boy I like, it doesn't really matter. Either way I keep on refreshing that conversation, my notifs, anything to see if he's replied after waiting for fifteen slow, horrendous minutes. Oh but I can't be too clingy can I? He can't think that I'm just WAITING for him right? That'd make me look desperate! And the worrying only continues.
2. You're Afraid

Does he even care... Those words might play again and again on repeat in your mind like a scratched record. They do so because they mean something to you. Those words are heavy, especially when they could amount to so much. Maybe he's just using me? I don't want that.. Or maybe I do? That's a scary thought. But couldn't every thought can become a scary thought? Sadly, yes. And even more so when what could be personally percieved as your own dignity is on the line. So sometimes, even though the situation is small, a bigger one could lie just beneath the surface. Maybe you're aware of it and maybe you're not, but either way it is absolutely terrifying.
3. It Feels Like Everything
UnsplashThe phrase "it feels like everything" is somewhat of a vague one, so allow me to elaborate. In that moment, that minute, second, or hour whatever this boy says back to you and when exactly he says it is everything. It matters so so much, right? Because how are you supposed to just move on with your day when you have all these feelings of dread and excitment knawing so intensely at you? It's the entire world for just a little while, but it seems to last forever. It's similar to a rush of adreniline, and in fact that may be exactly what it is. Your heart may begin to race and your palms start to sweat, you'll bite your bottom lip with anticipation and... Wait. Another couple minutes couldn't hurt. Could they?
1. Life Is Short
https://unsplash.com/photos/aqmX9m2mHPQLife is short! So why waste time fretting over boys who take a long time to reply over the phone? In a way it's pointless. You see the thing is, you shouldn't waste your time on these sorts of things. Of course in a way you can't help it, after all anger and worry don't just go away with the press of a button, right? I bet that if that were true, the world would be a much happier place. But reality is what it is, and in this specific situation the reality is that while a little bit of overthinking is okay, life goes by far too quickly to spend more time than necessary on something that is ultimately so insignificant. If he replies, I'm sure you'll know. And if you take a little time to yourself before replying? Who cares! I'm sure that he can wait a little while too.
2. You Don't Need His Reply

Truth be told, you're a baddie! And you don't need his reply to be your beautiful baddie self. Pratice being unbothered and I'm sure that these situations will come to faze you less and less as time goes by. Of course that isn't to say that you don't have to care, in fact caring is a fundamental element of living a satisying, love-filled life. But there is a fine line between caring and obsessing. Because at the end of the day, the only person who deserves all the energy that goes into obsession is you. And that may come across as an odd statement, but it's very true. Has this boy really earned ALL of your attention? Most likely not. So here's a friendly reminder: you don't need it to be happy, so don't trip yourself out! All you need is a healthy, happy state of mind, and really that's all up to you.
3. You Control You
Jakob OwensYour life is your life. Your time is your time. You control you, so don't let anybody else weasel their way into your crown. A queen has to stay strong for her people, and in this case your people are simply different parts of yourself. Every part of you is unique and special in it's own way, so don't give up any of it to a less than ideal situation.
