I don’t know if you’re aware, but moms love looking at pictures of anything and everything, well, at least my mom does. She loves looking at my Facebook and Instagram newsfeeds and asking multiple questions about the people in the pictures. And when she wants to zoom in on a picture to creep, that’s no problem on Facebook. But when it comes to Insta, oh, that’s another ball game.
Why you can’t zoom in on pictures on Instagram confuses everyone, especially my mother. So, naturally, when she wanted to look just a little bit closer at pictures my brother posted, I’d help her out by screenshotting them so she could zoom. Now, the days of screenshotting are long gone because Instagram came to their senses, updating the app with a zoom feature. No more screenshots for Karen. Here are some reasons why this was a very good decision on Insta’s part.
- The obvious: No more screenshots. I’m going to throw out a really first-world problem right now, but screenshotting a picture from Instagram can be a process. You have to screenshot it in the app, then exit the app, pull up your photos and then click on the photo and zoom. Now, it’s all in one! I am aware, this sounds obnoxiously outrageous, but this is what our society has come to. We are a generation of efficiency.
- You can justify your stalking abilities a little more. Before, you may’ve screenshotted pictures to zoom in and felt slightly strange about doing it (but did it anyways). Now, you can zoom to your little heart’s desire and not feel like a total stalker.
- Those other Insta updates, like not letting you customize a location, were trash and we all know it. This one’s a game changer. This update may have allowed Instagram to redeem themselves and earn some brownie points.
So, go ahead and update your Insta app right after you finish this article, you millennials you. Open it up and test it out. Call your mom and tell her about this life-changing development for the both of you. Moms everywhere will rejoice thanks to someone who thought, “oh gee, maybe we should finally add that feature that every other social media presence had.” Thank you for that to whoever you are.
Oh, and another bonus? You can zoom in on videos too. Amazing. The update updates the app into the twenty-first century; It really brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “Insta worthy.”
