My Thoughts On Whoopi And Maya

Earlier this year actress and comedian Whoopi Goldberg alongside her business partner Maya Elisabeth launched their medical cannabis line for menstrual cramps called, Whoopi and Maya. The product line has recently been featured in a Buzzfeed video titled "Women Try Whoopi Goldberg’s Weed For Period Pain." I personally have heard of the product line when it was just an idea but even then I knew this was the answer to all of our period pain prayers.

Whoopi and Maya have four products to choose from.

Soak

The first product is a bath soak which ingredients include various plant oils, epsom salt and of course sun grown cannabis. The product claims to use the essential oils to allow the body to intake the product faster and allow the effects to be felt quicker. This product sounds like an amazing way to unwind and relax while also soothing period pains. According to the Buzzfeed video, the soak product will "melt away all bloating and discomfort."

Rub

The next product in the Whoopi and Maya line is their rub. This product's ingredients include beeswax, essential oils and sun grown cannabis. The rub claims to increase blood flow hence when it is rubbed into the lower abdominal region it can aid in menstrual cramp and muscle tightness. If I were able to get my hands on any of these products it would definitely be this one because the idea that this product seems very efficient when you're on the go and need relief fast. According to the Buzzfeed video, the rub when applied to needed areas will give out a warm tingly feeling that is extremely soothing.

Relax

The next product in the Whoopi and Maya line is called Relax. This product is a THC infused tincture which claims to be fast acting with powerful relief. This product can essentially be mixed with any drink and consumed. The ingredients include honey, berries, and sun grown cannabis. The product claims to pair the pain relieving effects of cannabis with ancient menstrual pain relief methods such as the raspberry leaf. I think that this product is great if you want the gradually introduce your body to cannabis because you can moderate how much is going into your body through how much you're drinking.

Savor

The final Whoopi and Maya product is called Savor and it is a cacao butter spread infused with cannabis. This product seems like it is great for women who are experiencing cravings and menstrual cramps. The ingredients include cacao butter, coconut oil, agave and sun grown cannabis. I think that Whoopi and Maya really struck gold with this one because they know that a lot of women crave chocolate on their periods and this is a great way to kill two birds with one stone.

The biggest thing that I took away from this product line is that not only is it a natural remedy for curing menstrual cramps but women can use any of the above four products and not feel "stoned". The two women who tried this product in the Buzzfeed video said that the products allow you to continue with your everyday life without feeling high they just felt relief. Unfortunately this product line is only sold in California as of right now so us East Coasters will have to wait a while before we can experience this natural relief. I do hope that laws surrounding medical marijuana do eventually include women with terrible periods because it is something that women suffer from alone and it really shouldn't be that way. I give major props to both Whoopi and Maya for taking initiative in an area of medical marijuana that if not for them would've been overlooked.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
