We all know that feeling when the sun starts setting a little earlier, and the breeze begins carrying a slight chill that foreshadows the words that no one wants to admit: summer is ending. With the fall semester right around the corner (literally, it starts next week for most of us), I find myself scrambling to get together some last minute summer adventures, school supplies, and mental preparations. Here's a quick peek inside of my brain, complied into a list format for convenience (because you can't read a tornado):
1. Wait, the Spring semester just ended, what is going on??
2. Don't panic, you still have a few days.
3. But the summer flew by, you think these next few days are gonna slow it down for you?
4. Maybe I should change my identity and run away.
5. OK, this is fine, I'm fine.
6. Oh God, I have to buy textbooks soon.
7. Please let syllabus day actually JUST be syllabus day.
8. Can't wait to tell my new classmates my name, major, and three fun facts about myself.
9. I need school supplies... Onward to Target!
10. I need to get new outfits too.
11. And anything else that I enjoy before my life is taken over by my professors.
12. Oh I need to buy an umbrella because I recently sold mine for $2.50.
13. Why did I do that?
14. I'm never going to have time for Netflix.
15. Can't wait to forget what it feels like to not have a paper to write.
16. Will attendance count for all my classes?
17. Is it too late to drop out?
18. I need to clean my room so I can be organized.
19. Goodbye to my social life for the next four months.
20. Goodbye family, I'll be holed up in my room writing papers.
21. Man, why does summer have to end?
This summer has been filled with many experiences and opportunities and I'm sad to see it end. Now it's time to buckle in for the semester and daydream of summers return.
