The thirteenth season of "Grey's Anatomy" began on September 22 and within the first three weeks, the show has already fit in enough drama to last the next 21 glorious episodes. Going on the second season without the beautiful, Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd and the first season since Sara Ramirez won't be returning as the fiery, Callie Torres, viewers are eager to see the continuous evolution of the remaining characters.
Picking up where the shocking and heart-pounding season 12 finale left off, the latest installment of the eleven-year-long series starring Ellen Pompeo is just as dramatic as ever before.
Warning: Spoilers regarding "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 are ahead.
1. Why can't Meredith just be a strong, independent, single woman?
We all know that Meredith is fully capable of supporting herself and her three children while still being there for her friends. So why is Riggs appearing in her life like an annoying child that won't fall asleep during nap time? Even though it has been quite a while since Derek died, I wouldn't mind watching Meredith keep being the boss-lady she is without any extra baggage—baggage that Riggs so effortlessly seems to carry around in the form of Maggie's crazy infatuation, his past with Owen and just his own, incredibly sexy accent.
2. How many more court cases will take place in this show?
After just wrapping up the custody battle between Arizona and Callie, I don't know if I can handle another court room debacle. But seriously, why is someone associated with the hospital always suing or being sued? How could any of us forget the lawsuit that followed the plane crash, or when Gary Clark sought a case against Derek or even the plenty of divorce papers that have been served over the course of the show. Why can't everyone just say "it's a beautiful day to save lives," and have a glorious day?
3. Is Arizona standing by Karev or DeLuca?
Upon Arizona's return in episode 3 of the new season, her loyalties seem a little unclear. Having basically transformed Karev into the surgeon and person he is now, but also playing a large part in DeLuca's life by being his roommate, her position on the case could go either way. Even though it would be shocking for her to turn her back on Karev, her approach taken thus far leaves it up in the air.
4. Can Cristina come back already?
Face it, we've all been thinking it. Ever since the first episode of season 11 a space has been missing in our hearts that only Cristina Yang can fill. I truly do not know how I am surviving without hearing her sassy remarks or upfront comments whenever someone is clearly being an ignoramus but no one else has the guts to speak up about it.
5. Bailey truly is the only fully sane one left.
Not only is her relationship with Ben soaring to new heights, but she is kicking butt as Chief. Even when dealing with all of the troubles that seem to constantly float around Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as if there is a huge trouble-magnet looming over the area, she still exudes grace, intelligence and sass.
"Grey's Anatomy" airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
