Thoughts in the Last Four Weeks of School

Every Spring, it's the least few weeks that really take their toll on us. Spring Break is over. Easter Break is over. Now, all of the teachers want to torture us with any assignment or test possible. As for me, it's harder for me to get out of bed, harder for me to go to my LF classes, harder for me to eat healthy, harder for me to say "no" to social events, and the list goes on. Here is what we are all thinking during our last weeks of the semester:

  1. How many alarms do I need to set for my 10:10 class?
  2. *Sets 10 alarms*
  3. *Snoozes all 10 alarms*
  4. If I leave myself 15 minutes to get to class, I can still make myself look presentable.
  5. Do you think professors are still taking attendance?
  6. I wonder how many more absences I have in that class.
  7. I think I'm getting sick.
  8. I don't know if I can go to that formal... I have three projects due the week after.
  9. *Says yes to formal*
  10. How can I make this cooler in four days?
  11. *Skips all homework assignments to work on a cooler for date*
  12. Should I take summer classes?
  13. Should I find a summer job?
  14. I wonder if anyone is even going home for the summer.
  15. Today is the perfect day to lay out.
  16. Should I skip class to get some sun on the balcony?
  17. I have too many things to do. Might as well rearrange my room.
  18. Do I really have to meet with my group for a group project?
  19. Why is everything due in the same week?
  20. I need to start perfecting my summer wardrobe.
  21. Time to see what concerts and music festivals are going on this summer.
  22. Is it too late to sign up for study abroad?
  23. Are final exams really required?
  24. If I go out this night, I will stay in tomorrow.
  25. *Goes out both nights*
  26. Of course, the last month of school is filled with university events, mixers and philanthropy events.
  27. I don't even have time to go to the grocery store.
  28. I can live off of Cane's right?
  29. I'm gonna stay in and work ahead this Thursday.
  30. Yeah right.

You only do college once. Enjoy these last few weeks (but don't forget to do your assignments as well).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
