Thoughts Girls Have Before Going To The Gym

The only thing harder than staying in the gym is getting ready for the gym.

1. No.
2. Okay, fine. I did devour a personal pizza last night.
3. And a grilled cheese.
4. But, so did Shelby and she’s not working out!
5. But, Shelby is skinny.
6. Let me check how I look in the mirror.
7. OMG, is this a fat mirror?
8. I am going to the gym for 10 hours.
9. Should I wear Nike spandex or workout pants?
10. Spandex always rides up, but it is too hot for pants.
11. Maybe, I just shouldn’t go.
12. Fine. I’ll wear a bro tank and shorts.
13. I wish I had trendy workout clothes.
14. At least I have this LuluLemon headband.
15. My sports bra matches with my outfit too much!
16. Ugh.
17. Do I wear my Nike running sneakers that have no support, or my ugly running sneakers that actually work?
18. Nike sneakers.
19. Which socks?
20. Ugh.
21. I hate the gym.
22. But, I also hate my stomach.
23. What if I see a cute boy at the gym?
24. Or my booty call?
25. They can’t see me like this!
26. I have to cover this zit.
27. Maybe put on some eyeliner, too.
28. I’ll put my hair in a braid.
29. Damn, I look good!
30. I don’t want this makeup to go to waste.
31. If I workout, it’ll all sweat off.
32. Maybe I shouldn’t go to the gym.
33. I’ll just have a healthy salad for dinner.
34. Or sushi.
35. Sushi’s not bad for you, right?
36. I’ll get froyo, after!
37. Froyo is basically no calories.
38. I could try Nutrisystem.
39. Or, maybe I'll go on a juice cleanse.
40. I wish I was skinnier.
41. Ugh.
42. OMG it’s already so late!
43. I have to get ready for my date!
44. Ha! Who am I kidding? I don't have a date.
45. And I'll never have a date if I don't go to the gym!
46. Ugh!
47. I’ll just go tomorrow.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
