Thoughts From A Disney Generation
Hollywood Life

Do you ever have one of those days when you could just sing every Disney song ever imaginable? No? Maybe that's just me. Hakuna Matata, Be Our Guest, Kiss The Girl, Wish Upon A Star, Bare Necessities. The list goes on. Those from my generation know most, if not all of the Disney songs, but that's because we are a generation that grew up on Disney. We are the last generation that knows all of the classics. We are proud, unashamed, and serious about it.

First and foremost, we are such a proud Disney nation. We are beyond knowledgeable and we're not afraid to show it. We can quote movies forward and backward. Because of this, be very careful while watching movies with us, because we'll quote more than the characters do. We also try to outdo each other in our knowledge. Disney Scene It was/is my all-time favorite way to do that. Disney and board games, can you get any better?

Because of this love and pride, we sing the songs in public with absolutely no shame. If we hear someone say something that even remotely sounds like a line from one of the songs, be prepared for an impromptu outburst of Disney lyrics. No matter what, we always point out mistakenly sung lyrics. If you're going to quote it, quote it right.

One of the hardest things for us is when children younger than us don't know what the classics are. Some don't even know The Little Mermaid, and it's so unsettling to know that children not too much younger than us, didn't experience this love of Disney and childhood that we did. Yes, the "classic" Disney movies all came out before they were born. There were over 60 films animated between 1937 and 2000. That also means many and most of them were out before we were born, too, and that hasn't stopped us. Because of this, we're going to make sure our kids know them as forward and backward as we do. Sadly, it could have missed a generation, but we're going to try out best to bring them back.

Our love for these characters and movies have been with us for as long as most of us can remember and we are very passionate about them. We have this in many ways, such as lovingly correcting everything you say, serenading you, and enlightening you on everything you never knew you were desperately missing. We have taken this to absolute heart, "You don't have time to be timid. You must be bold and daring." Some of the best life lessons have been brought to us by Disney.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
