Thoughts Every Girl Has Packing For Winter Break

Packing to go home for breaks is actually the worst. You don’t want to over pack, but what if you need that one thing you didn’t pack. Guys have it pretty easy, not saying that it isn’t hard, but for girls, the story is quite different. Many girls bring way over half their wardrobe to school, so packing for winter break when you are home for a month is almost as hard as that final you just took. Here are just a few of the thoughts girls have while packing for winter break.

1. I should make a list.

2. Do I really need to bring home five sweaters?

3. Of course I do, it’s going to be cold.

4. I have t-shirts at home, I don’t need to bring any home.

5. Well except that one I always wear.

6. And maybe that other one.

7. I’ll just bring them all home. I know I’ll wear them.

8. Do I need to bring home three pairs of sweatpants when I have three pairs at home?

9. Yup. I’m not trying to impress anybody this break.

10. Wow I have a lot of clothes.

11. What am I wearing to church on Christmas Eve?

12. I guess I should bring home four dresses so I have options.

13. How am I going to fit all of this stuff in three bags?

14. I should call mom to let her know how much stuff I am bringing home.

15. I will DEFINITELY pack my seven pairs of leggings.

*halfway through list*

16. I probably should bring real pants too.

17. How many pairs of jeans do I need?

18. Three should be fine.

19. And that means I need to pack belts. Can’t forget the belts.

20. This time of year is for flannels so I’ll pack all of them.

21. Ugh. Bras are the worst. I guess I should pack those.

22. And underwear, that’s important.

23. Why are socks a thing? They take up so much space.

24. Wow my suitcase is really full.... seriously how is this going to fit?

25. I guess I don’t need sweatshirts. I have those at home.

26. But that one quarter zip is so comfy. I need that one.

27. Probably should bring some casual shirts too.

28. Can’t forget those exercise clothes to burn off all those Christmas cookies. *laughs*

*sits on suitcase, jumps on suitcase, steps in suitcase*

29. I honestly didn’t think I was going to be able to close that. All done!

30. CRAP I FORGOT TO PACK SHOES.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
