A Russian Student's Thoughts On The American Presidential Candidates
JTA

I am the type of person who keeps my political opinions to myself. However, at times, my Russian boyfriend gets the total rant and rampage of my political thoughts and opinions. His input on the upcoming presidential election is thought-provoking and sometimes quite hilarious.

He has given me permission to share his thoughts about the election and the candidates with everyone, but I will not include his name. He will simply be referred to (by permission) as "the Russian." Please take into consideration that neither of us have a lot of political background and that these are just interesting thoughts provided by someone who is looking into American politics.

Let us begin with what I presume to be the crowd favorite, given what I read on Facebook: Bernie Sanders. If Bernie Sanders were to get elected, the Russian says that it will be difficult for him to handle foreign policies, especially Russia. However, he thinks that Sanders' focus will remain on that within the United States. He also believes that it will be difficult for the overall American population to change and accept democratic socialism. If Bernie Sanders were to get elected for both terms, then the Russian believes that he might have a shot at changing the American economy.

Staying with the Democratic front-runners, we will now digress to the Russian's thoughts on Hillary Clinton. With a slight tilt-back of his head, the Russian gave out a small laugh. He said, "I have no comment on Hillary Clinton," and he continued on with his homework.

Now, we shift into a few of the Republican candidates. Let us start with Ted Cruz. The Russian states, "I don't even know who that is." I do not think that he even cares about who that is, but I showed him a picture anyway. Upon seeing this man, he stated, "He looks like a good guy to play the Penguin in Batman." I burst into laughter at this point and so we moved on.

Now, these are the Russian's thoughts about the spectacle that is Donald Trump. He said, "He will bring American down because he does not know when to be quiet. If he changed his attitude, then maybe, but so far, nope." The Russian also told me about how Vladimir Putin, President of Russian, thinks that Trump is funny to the point that Trump had best realize not to mess with Russia. All in all, the Russian thinks that Trump is an idiot, to say the least.

There are just too many candidates to really ask about them all and if he doesn't know about Ted Cruz, then I am not going to press any further questions. In conclusion, the Russian added, "I do not think if I could vote, that I would vote for any of these four people." I won't express my political opinions in this article, however, I hope that you found this enlightening and a tad bit humorous when compared to some of the other political articles that you may come across.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
