We all have guilty pleasures. "The Challenge" is mine. I have been watching every version religiously for probably six or seven years. Every season, I assume that it's going to get a little stale. But it never does. Rivals III, based on the first episode, is going to be one of the most ridiculous, drama-filled, and mind-numbing seasons to date. So, of course I'm going to continue watching. I wrote down my thoughts I had during the first episode: good, bad, and ugly. I'm going to share them with you.
1. How does Johnny Bananas get there so much earlier than everyone else?
He arrives, surveys at the whole house, settles in, and presumably takes a nap in a hammock before anyone else even sets foot through the door. How long was he alone?
2. Why is Bananas still so mad at Sarah?
Literally all she did was throw you into an elimination. I don't understand how he is so mad at someone for playing the game they came to play.
3. Wait, KellyAnne, what?
No, you don't. You do not have multiple personalities. You have multiple personality traits. That is not the same thing.
4. Who let this jerk back on my television screen?
I am very mad at you. I do not care who you are. This was a terrible idea.
5. Shouldn't Tony have been at home helping his pregnant ex-girlfriend?
I'm not sure if they were dating at the time of filming, but he definitely knew about the baby. I hope he wins as justification for leaving the mother of his child for months without his emotional support.
6. Why do I never remember them throwing their drinks after the toast?
I don't even care. I loved it.
7. People need to appreciate Leroy more.
Look no further than Leroy to say what everyone else is really thinking. Because there is no way only 2 people out of 26 were genuinely upset about jumping out of a plane with 24 hours notice.
8. But why do they even have to jump out of an airplane at all?
I guess buses aren't intense enough for television anymore.
9. Can MTV really not think of a new theme for the games?
I have no problem with Rivals, but can their creative team not think of any other game to play? Maybe the skydiving was supposed to distract us from the fact that they're playing the same game for the third time.
10. Can Camila ever get through an interview without crying?
I'm a Camila fan, but I never remember her crying this much. All they did was reveal your partner. It's okay.
11. Didn't Simone just say she was working on being more zen?
I don't think it's working.
12. Why would you pick the bathroom with three windows to do anything private?
Come on, Ashley and Jamie. You've gotta know that everyone can see you.
13. Why did the contestants even agree to half of the stuff they've previewed for the season?
Why is everyone naked? Why are people on fire? Why can they set people on fire and make them hike naked and I still find it enjoyable?
