Here's an apology in advance to people who go to concerts, parties, vacation or really any event and like to post multiple things on their Snapchat story:
There is absolutely no need for a 300-plus-second Snapchat story.
Now when I say this, this is what I hear people say: "Let people post what they want! You don't have to look at their Snapchat story!" Now, I'm assuming that I'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy 300-second Snapchat stories because I'm not the only one who complains about them.
The point of a Snapchat story is not to post things for your own benefit. The point is to post things to let your Snapchat friends know what you're up to, or to share something funny or a cool sunset occasionally. When I express my annoyance over excessively long stories, the people who post stories like this tend to say, "Well, if you don't like it, you don't have to watch my story!" Then what was the point of you posting it? For your benefit? When the pictures/videos will disappear in 24 hours? When you share things on social media, it is meant for other people to see. (Plus, I don't like not watching them because then your story will stay under the recent list of stories and I'm OCD about that.)
It would be a completely different story (pun intended) if the pictures were posted on Twitter or Facebook. That would make sense considering that you could actually look back on those things in a couple years and remember the memories you made.
Simply put, for this side of the argument, Snapchat stories were made for other people to look at. Knowing that nobody likes super long Snapchat stories, try to limit the number of times you make your Snapchat story crazy long, for everyone's sake.
And now, I will very simply defend those who put up a 300-plus-second Snapchat story: It is their Snapchat. You choose to be friends with somebody on Snapchat, and people are allowed to post whatever they want.
Overall, 300-second Snapchat stories can be annoying, but people always have the right to post what they want to post. There is nothing anybody can do to change that. That's just how social media operates, and it will probably always stay like that.
