"Ah yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it" -Rafiki ("The Lion King")
Friends, family, etc. They come and go. I will forever be thankful for those that have stuck with me through thick and thin, but it is true, people can't always stay in your life forever. In 21 years I have finally realized something, it is okay for someone to walk out of your life. Although it may be sad and you might think of them from time to time, it is okay. We are young, we're going to fight with people and realize we aren't meant to be in each others lives. We might not always want that to happen, but sometimes it is for the better. I have also learned that blood does not always mean family. I have family that is nothing to me but friends that are a better family to me.
As years go on, we grow. Our opinions, views, and lives change. That's normal. I have tried to grasp the idea of losing people/cutting people out for years. I know it is a necessary thing to do so that is the reason I am okay with it. Some people are just meant to stick with you longer than others. People are meant to be there during specific parts of your life. For example, after high school you lose half the people you associate with. Why? People we are all stepping into different chapters in our life. So you may be close with someone at a certain time, but that doesn't mean they will necessarily be good for you at another time in your life.
To those who have been in my life at one point or another:
I just want to say thank you. You have helped me grow into the person that I am. To me, every experience and person I have come across with has shaped me into the individual that I am. I don't think many people realize how much a person can actually influence you and leave a lasting mark. Thank you for the fun times, the bad times, and even the sad times. We may have had our tussles but that helped us come to the conclusion that we were not meant to be in each others lives. Especially with friendships, they're complicated. We are at the age that we are being pulled in a million different directions. So it's okay if you don't fit into my life any more as I do not fit in yours. To anyone that has been in my life, I will never forget the times we have had. I have always been one to save pictures. Pictures are memories. Just know that I will always look back on the good times (even when I don't want to). You may not be an important factor in my life anymore, but you once were. You were a chapter in my book that made it a bit more interesting. Thanks for the memories, it was a great ride.
