Ever since I was very young I spent a majority of my time with my mother. Most little girls do grow pretty fond of their mother, and do spend most of their time with her. Growing up having an over the road truck driver as a father meant dad wasn’t really around much. Gradually he stopped being gone for days at a time and would just be gone at night, but unfortunately this meant he slept all day. It wasn’t until I started middle school that my dad was really around a lot. So as you may imagine I grew up to be quite the momma's girl. But this one is for you dad, and for all the under appreciated dads out there.
Thank you for always be there for me to call when I’m stuck at a gas station with a flat tire and giving me a step by step on how to put air in it. For making sure any boy that dates me knows there’s an angry dad and a shotgun under the bed if he ever hurts me. For the mornings we would spend racing each other in Mario Kart and how great it felt when I could finally beat you in a race. Thanks for getting me my first car, and making sure everything on it was safe for me. For showing me which warning lights on my dash meant pull over now and give dad a call. Thank you for putting my life before yours on many occasions. Thanks for yelling at me just enough all these years growing up that I actually turned out pretty good. Thank you for working long hours, and overtimes to make sure I have the best life possible. For being upfront and honest with me about everything I do (like getting my nose pierced). Thank you for making me laugh and for passing your sense of humor down to me.Thank you for filling in whenever mom would be sick or out of town.
We may fight and bicker every now and then, and God knows we don’t agree on everything, but that’s what dads are for. I know we don’t tell each other enough or show it enough but everyday you prove how much you love me, and I often over look that. Being a momma’s girl I usually focus all my sappy Instagram posts and anything I write about parents on her. But this one is for you dad, thanks for being the best hero a girl could ask for. I love you.
