This year on November 30th, was the day my friends and I had been waiting for, the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was one of the biggest days for the fashion industry and girls around the world. The first show was introduced in August 1996 and was held by Stephanie Seymour at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Millions of viewers tune in to watch the fashion show every year, and my friends and I were counting down the days. Every year, Victoria's Secret comes up with new ways to wow their audience while gaining public recognition from the fashion industry for their brand. This year, like the many before it, was absolutely spectacular. This years fashion show was held in one of the worlds most breath taking fashion capitals, Paris, France. It featured big names which most people have heard of from Instagram or TV series like, Keeping Up With the Kardashians such as Kendall Jenner, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Yolanda's two daughters, GiGi Hadid, and little sister, Bella Hadid. As well as a number of successful fashion models from across the world such as Karlie Kloss, Taylor Hill, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, Josephine Skriver, Laid Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, and Stella Maxwell all walking the runway. To have that many amazing models in one show, is rare. In addition to the culturally diverse and amazing 6 feet glamazons who grace the run way, Victoria’s Secret hires musical guests to add to the performance. The 2016 show was accompanied by musical performances by Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and The Weeknd. One lucky model is chosen every year to wear what is known as the "Fantasy Bra". This year, Jasmine Tooke wore the stunning emerald and diamond Fantasy Bra designed by Eddie Borgo. It included 9,000 gemstones and cost $3 million dollars. In years past, models such as Candice Swanepoel get to walk the runway while covered in a 24 carrot gold bra, embellished with diamonds, rubys, and yellow sapphire which cost around $10 million dollars.
My friend, Maren, with her Victoria's Secret robe, black heels, and makeup all on, sat as the opening scene appeared on our television screen. My entire friend group and I sit anxiously, 10 girls huddled on two beds in a stuffy dorm room, mesmerized by what is about to transpire on the television before us…
