This one is for the girls going through recruitment,
Who are about to embark on the best decision she will ever make your whole life (or at least thus far in her life). Who are about to find some of the most extraordinary and inspiring people in her life time. Who are about to find her future bridesmaids, study buddies, late night pancake run partners, and future role models within the organization she choses to represent... Not only on her campus but throughout the world and throughout her life. So, let me be the first to welcome you and congratulate you on becoming a part of such an amazing community.
This is a week of late nights, decisions, early mornings, and a lot of talking. But do not let that discourage you from finding your home; every moment is worth it in the end. Do not be afraid to cry; it is an incredibly crazy week with a lot of mixed emotions. You will find chapters you love that do not love you just as much back. It happens to all of us. Do not let that ruin your experience; take it as someone has a different plan for you. Your gifted personality was needed else where and that else where is going to appreciate it much, much more. You will find chapters that you love and love you back, but maybe other girls do not love as much. Do not let their words get to you about how you should feel about your home. Remember, everyone is different: different styles, different personalities, different values, different morals, and different priorities. And, just because their attitude to the chapter is different than yours does not lower you as a person or them as a person; just accept the differences, love the chapters you love, and enjoy your time.
When in stressful moments of this week, continue to talk out decisions with your recruitment counselor. She is there to help you and guide you through recruitment because she wants you to enjoy your time in this community like she has. She has gone through tremendous amounts of preparation and training to help guide you through recruitment. So do not be afraid to constantly update her on your doings; she considers you one of her "rho-babies" and like your mother, she wants nothing more than constant updates and happy endings.
Everything will happen for a reason this recruitment week, but do not let that hinder your excitement for college and being apart of a Greek Community. You are going to truly enjoy being apart of something bigger than yourself. You are going to have so many opportunities arise from it. And with that, I welcome you and congratulate you.
