When you leave a place for the first time, you get this sense of panic. You're leaving a place that you have always known and moving to a place that you know nothing about. Your heart races and your hands sweat as you pack up the last of your things. You wonder if you're going to forget what this place that you have always known was like.
You're first home will always be your "home." It will always be that place where you first learned how to ride a bike, shoot a basketball, and made friends that you claimed would be your best friends forever. You make memories here that will last a lifetime and will have you laughing a few years down the road because you realized how crazy you were as a kid. You never think "I'm going to be leaving this place someday and moving to a place of my own." You think that you will always be in this little house in this little town that you have always known.
You grow up and new memories are made and now you have to begin to brace the fact that leaving home is in the near future. Whether you be leaving for college, work, or you just want to travel, leaving this place will be one of the hardest things that you will ever have to do. You place all of those memories that you have gathered throughout the years into a hundred cardboard boxes and put them in your car to be shipped off to an unfamiliar place.
The hardest part about being in a new place is that you have to start over. You have to make new friends, make new memories, and learn about this town that may be completely different than your home town. You may have moved cities, states, or even countries, but no matter where you move, nothing will compare to home.
Home will always be the place that is comfortable. It will always be the place that you grew up learning and knowing better then you knew the back of your hand. You knew your neighbors and your neighbor's neighbors and you knew what time that family restaurant opened up everyday so you could get triple chocolate pancakes before you went to work or school. Home is what you know best. Home is where you grew up. Home is where you will always belong.
