As many of you have probably heard, Christina Grimmie was killed from senseless violence that we will probably never understand. I watched the aspiring singer in middle school on YouTube and then followed her journey on "The Voice." The innocent 22-year-old was just living her dream, and it doesn’t make sense how someone would want to hurt her.
This breaks my heart because there are no words to explain how her family must be feeling, and it doesn’t seem real how she could die so tragically. She had her whole own life in front of her and was chasing her dreams. It makes me sick because I’ll never understand why someone could kill someone with no reason. Sometimes this world doesn’t make sense.
People are killed every day for no reason, simply for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Or because a person decided to commit a violent, senseless crime. Sometimes there is no explanation for why and how a person can commit a violent crime. But we are taught that anything is possible, so shouldn’t we able to figure out how a person could get so angry as to kill a person for no apparent reason? We can’t wrap our minds around how somebody could be so horrific and cause so much pain for a person for no reason.
Tragedies teach us that at any time, our entire life can change. Never take life for granted. Hug the people you care about. Tell the people you love that you love them. Don’t worry about the little things in life because there are bigger problems. If you’re fighting with someone, call them up, suck up your pride and apologize while you still have the opportunity. Never forget the people who were there for you at your worst times and be grateful for them by supporting them when they need you the most. Try to live a life so that you have no regrets. The world would be a much better place if all loved and supported one another.
This world isn’t perfect. Every day there are headlines on the news saying of a new tragedy that has happened. Terrorism. Gun violence. Gang violence. Rape. None of this will ever be OK, but changes aren’t being made. My heart breaks every time I hear another innocent victim that didn’t deserve any of this. It’s time to get real. Human suffering can be avoided if we tried more to prevent these crimes. Better gun control is a must because, without it, nothing is going to change. Without it, the violence will continue as long as there aren’t tighter regulations so that not everybody can get their hands on a gun. When will the violence end?
