Thirty Things To Be Thankful For
Odyssey

As we plunge headfirst into the month of November, and Thanksgiving right around the corner, we have so much we can be thankful for this month and any other month of the year. To kick off our November, I've come up with something to be thankful for every day of this month.

1. Family

Your Ohana. No matter what your family consists of, they all love you unconditionally.

2. Waking up in the morning.

As hard as this may be sometimes, at least you woke up to see another day.

3. Good food, in a large abundance.

We have so many food options, and usually it's really good too! I'm already thinking about Thanksgiving feasting...

4. The sunshine

I know the struggle it can be to get through a rainy day. The gloominess can make you glum, so I'm thankful for the many days of sunshine!

5. Friends

Sometimes we just need a friend that we can trust deeply to bounce ideas off of, laugh with, and cry with. Be thankful for these people, even if it is only one.

6. Freedom of Religion

Regardless of your religion, be thankful that there are people there to look after you. They know the plans for you and your life!

7. Technology

There are many things we take for granted that we wouldn't be able to do without the technological advances that we have had since we became a nation.

8. An education

This may go outside of the classroom, but the value of learning something and understanding it... #blessed.

9. Health

If you are well, don't take it for granted. If you're not well for whatever reason, I hope it figures itself out and you get better soon!

10. Nature

If you're anything like me, nature is your serenity. There's so much nature being destroyed that we need to just embrace it now.

11. Sleep

This may come few and far between, but the productive energy you get from sleep is phenomenal! Embrace it when it comes.

12. Laughter

Life's natural medicine. Be thankful that you're able to laugh and cheer yourself up, sometimes laughing until you cry!

13. Support

Hearing "you can do it" from anybody is a blessing!

14. Coffee

Just speak to anybody, they can validate this.

15. A job.

Your job is what keeps the rest of your life in check so...

16. Music

I know for a lot of my peers, music is what allows us to escape reality at times. I know I'm especially thankful for music.. after all, music is my major!

17. Animals

They complete our circle of life! It also helps that a lot of them are so darn cute!

18. Weekends

For everyone, there's something about the weekend that can be so refreshing!

19. Freedom of Speech

In a lot of places, speaking out against people can be VERY risky. I'm thankful that we live in a place where other people's opinions won't be completely ridiculed.

20. WiFi

Because let's be honest, who can live without WiFi these days? If you are living without portable internet, praise you because I cannot see how you do it!

21. Our military

Thank you to all the men and women that are serving, have served, and/or are training to serve in our military. Without you, we wouldn't have the basic freedoms we take for granted.

22. Fresh Air

Air all around the world isn't exactly the cleanest... So it's a blessing while you're hiking to feel the fresh air hitting your face.

23. My Department

The people you work with and basically revolve your life around consistently have your back whenever you need it. Because they understand.

24. Kind Strangers

I know how weird this sounds. But those people who randomly wave and smile at you, let you make a left turn into traffic, and display their basic mannerisms towards you... they're good people.

25. Diversity

Having a diversity of people means having a diverse population of cultures and traditions. This is the best way to learn about the world, and it's even without a textbook.

26. Alone Time

I've been saying to be thankful for all these people, but be thankful for the time you get to cherish by yourself too! That sometimes brings on some of your best ideas.

27. Netflix

Because who doesn't love a good movie? Netflix is a great pass time and usually my only time to chill out, so I'm definitely thankful for it!

28. Life Events

Events that have happened in the past usually turn into a life lesson, and these lessons mold us into the people we truly are!

29. The Holiday Season

This is the time of the year where everything and everyone that matters to you is together and able to unite as a family. Be thankful for these times and cherish them every year.

30. Life

Be thankful that you have a life to live, and embrace it everyday.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
