Writer John Green once said, “Nerd girls are the world’s most underutilized romantic resource. And guys do not tell me that nerd girls are not hot because that shows a Paris Hilton-esque failure to understand hotness.” Our definitions of hotness have been so drenched in physicality that we are all now craving something more substantial when it comes to finding someone special.
Enter the once ignored nerdy girl. Her popularity has sky rocketed in the past few years along with the careers of nerdy girls like Zooey Deschanel, Olivia Munn, and Emma Watson, and I’m willing to bet that if they gave her the time,most guys would fall head over heels for a nerdy girl.
1. She is unapologetically enthusiastic and will understand when you are too. Whether you go crazy for your favorite football team or bacon, she loves it when you get excited about something you love.
2. You don’t need to entertain her. She has a million interests and is rarely bored. If you have to do your own thing she isn’t going to get bratty about it. All the more time for her to read the new eBook she downloaded or play the latest video game. In fact, you may find yourself vying for her attention.
3. Her sense of humor will leave you in stitches. She is smart, witty, and sarcastic at any given time. She can take a joke and deal one out. You may not get all of her references and a few might fly clear over your head, but if you’re a confident man that won’t bother you one bit
4. She will broaden your horizons. You have to be willing to learn new things because she loves learning. You’ll want to step your game up intellectually. Don’t be intimidated, there’s plenty of thing you can teach her as well and she’s an eager student.
5. Even though she’s smart, she’s humble. She has a modest view of her own importance, not because she isn’t confident but because for most of her life been made fun of for liking the things she likes or caring too much. It hasn’t made her less passionate about the things she loves, just less prone to being pretentious.
6. Passion is arguably the most attractive trait people look for in a partner and she’s got it to spare. How can she not? Years of reading and experiencing a hundred different lives in different books and worlds have made her take on the real world with fervor.
7. Nerdy girls are loyal and resilient. This should not be confused with stubbornness (although I am sure some of them are) but this rather applies to the relationship you form with her. She isn’t going to storm out on you and even if she does she’ll come right back. She won’t ever give up without a fight.
8. She is considerate. Growing up a nerd isn’t easy. It makes adolescence and high school that much harder. Additionally, she is most likely not a stranger to the friend zone so she’s not going to mess around with your heart.
9. She’ll get along with your boys. They’ll appreciate the fact that she genuinely understands and laughs at their Star Wars jokes. She doesn’t feel like an outsider with them which will put you at ease. This isn’t a guarantee that they’ll love her or vice versa but it’s easy for her to find common ground with them.
10. She's down to earth. You want to stay in and binge watch DBZ? No problem! She’ll bring the pizza, put on a baggy T, and might even wear her Scouter glasses.
11. Things inside the bedroom will never be boring. You might not be into dressing up but she probably is and she’ll be original about it. She’ll have her own cosplay outfits ready to go. Don’t be surprised if you wake up after a wild night and find her still in character.
12. The big events you attend won’t be boring either. She can show you the world….of Comic Con. There’s a lot more to these events than you think, but I’ll let your future nerdy girl introduce you to all that
13. And finally, you will never-ever-ever-ever have trouble getting a present for her. Birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries…there is a ton of amazing stuff you can get her from a hundred sites that cater to the things she likes.
