12 Things You're Sick Of Hearing If You're A Twin
Erica Benham

1. Are you identical or fraternal?

This happens mostly when you’re without the other half. But you’d be surprised by how many people ask when the both of us are standing right in front of you — as if the answer wasn’t obvious.

2. Who’s older?

In a synchronized tone we both say, “She is/I am by one minute.”

3. You don’t even look like twins!

Well gosh, you’re right. We don’t. Guess we better just stop being twins then.

4. Do you guys have twin telepathy?

Yes, but not in the way you would think. We created our own language growing up that I don’t think can happen to just anyone. We can read each other’s body language like you wouldn’t believe. If you chose to play games with us, you will lose.

5. Are you best friends?

This is a tricky question because of course we are, we’re twins. We know each other better than we know anyone else. However, we have our own best friends separate from each other too.

6. Do you match your outfits?

Honestly. Why even ask this? It was cute when we were two, now catch two 22 year-olds wearing matching overalls and flower hats and ask me again.

7. Do you like being a twin?

This is like asking a dog if they like being a dog. It’s all I’ve ever known so yeah, it’s pretty cool. It’s great to have someone to share life with.

8. Do you ever play tricks on people?

Fraternal twins? Yeah, we get away with that a lot…

9. Can you feel each other’s pain?

Not sure if this can be scientifically proven or not. I do think that I can tell when something is wrong with her, emotionally or mentally, but if she stubs her toe, no, I can’t feel that. That girl has broken ¾ limbs and I haven’t felt a thing.

10. “Nicole…I mean, Erica. Opps, sorry.”

You’d think they’d learn...

11. “The twins”

Always being referred to as a pair as if you aren’t your own person.

12. Do you like sharing a birthday?

Does anybody actually like sharing cake? No, but it is fun to have two cakes and two reasons to celebrate.

Personal Plug: I love my twin sister more than anything. She's my "womb-to-tomb." There is no other bond on Earth than the one sisters have and I'm so grateful for her (and my other sisters too). If today is all I get, I'm so glad to have shared life with her and if I'm offered many more tomorrow's, then I can't wait to experience life with her by my side and me by her side.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
