10 Things You Say To Your Roommates

Living in a small space with three other people helps you create a bond that some people will never understand. To the girls who I share a quad with that only had two beds, to the girls who know me better than most people, to the girls who always make me laugh and to the girls who have become my best friends. Thanks for becoming my go-to girls and always willing to go on adventures with me. I would not be able to survive sophomore year without you.

1. Can we get more food?

Although we just ate dinner 30 minutes ago, there is always one of us that gets hungry and asks who wants to go get more food in the annex. This usually prompts the entire room to go get a snack and eat more food than we probably should be eating.

2. Is ________ healthy for you?

We always try to make everything we eat sound healthy. Whether we are eating pizza or pineapple we always tell each other that it is healthy so we don’t feel bad about eating it.

3. Does our room smell?

Our garbage usually will get taken out when it starts to overflow or smell. People always walk into our room and say what is that smell? Usually, it is the combination of garbage and all the air freshener that we spray.

4. Are you going out tonight?

The deciding factor on whether or not we go out depends on if one of the other roommates will go out too. If the other three roommates are staying in, you can bet that I will be staying in as well. Because let’s be honest, we usually don’t do much without each other.

5. Have you seen my ______?

This is usually me asking if someone took my LuLu Lemon leggings because I always seem to lose my things. Our room sometimes becomes a tornado and we all end up losing things or our items end up in Kara’s beautiful pile in the corner of the room.

6. Is my hair okay in the back?

After finishing curling or straightening our hair, we always have to check to make sure the back looks okay since we don’t have eyes in the back of our head. For me, I usually missed an entire section in the back but thank god for you girls to help me fix it.

7. Dunkin' run?

I think that Dunkin should start paying us to go there since we are actually there every day. Thanks to Kara and Lauren I have converted from a Starbucks girl to a Dunkin girl in just two short months because our group message every day says “Dunkin' run, anyone?”

8. Motivate me to go to the gym today.

We have all told ourselves that we will start fit girl tomorrow and it just seems to get pushed back every day for some odd reason. If one of us need to go to the gym we ask one of our other roommates to tell us we need to go, otherwise, we will lay in bed for the rest of the day.

9. I need a job. We should get one.

This really just applies to Lauren and me because Kara and Megan both have two jobs while Lauren and I are just making trips to Dunkin' everyday. We blame it on the fact that no one wants to hire us, but the truth is we didn’t really try to look, oops.

10. Sorry my side of the room is messy.

This statement usually applies to Kara and sometimes Lauren. Kara will clean her room on a Thursday and two days later it looks like a tornado came through our room, but I can’t complain because I have about 14 cups in my room that I just keep stacking on top of each other.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
