Being a senior in college, I often like to reminisce about the good old-fashioned days called elementary school. We had reading time and naps, and getting on the right bus home was the hardest thing you had to do for the day. That all vanished rather quickly and now students like me excel in things like procrastination, writing excuse emails to teachers, and magically passing classes that you barely attended.
Anyways, I wanted to throw things back to the early 2000s when I was in elementary school, so I created a list of things that most of us remember doing and probably miss.
1. Bill Nye the Science Guy

He made learning about clouds into the most fascinating thing in the world.
2. Type to Learn
It was all about who reached the highest level and could "press the faded key" the fastest .
3. Reading Rainbow
"Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high. Take a look, it's in a book. Reading Rainbow" (you know the rest).
4. WordArt
I took my sweet time just trying to choose the perfect font and colors.
5. Studying Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt
Honestly, I never got tired of learning about mummies and gladiators.
6. Learning about penguins and Antarctica
I did my project on the Macaroni Penguin because it had cool feathers and I liked macaroni, if anyone was wondering.
7. Scholastic Book Fair
It was all about the giant pens and the gadgets and the magazine catalog they sent. I begged my parents to let me get a pink butterfly-shaped light-up landline phone with a headset. Let's just say that I always got anything except a book at the book fair.
8. The Magic School Bus
Where Miss Frizzle and her pet lizard would grace us with their intelligence.
9. The 100th day of school
We did every single thing 100 times and counted 100 pennies and counted to 100 a billion times; you get the point.
10. Gym class
When the gym teacher brought out the huge rainbow parachute or the scooters, you knew gym was about to be lit.
11. Valentine's Day
Where people who hated you were forced to give you a valentine and vice versa. But you came home with hella candy.
12. Spelling B-E-C-A-U-S-E
"B-e-c-a-u-s-e u-s-e u-s-e, b-e-c-a-u-s-e because because because"
If someone tells you that they don't still sing this every time they write/type this word, then they're lying.
13. Substitute teachers
You know you had a favorite.
14. D.A.R.E.
Let's just say that this program taught me a lot, maybe too much.
