17 Must-Buys At Costco Before Saying Goodbye To Your Parents For The Semester

Costco is the best place on Earth (next to Disney World), and saying goodbye to your parents is just the thing you need to get what you want here.

The semester is already beginning after a short three weeks off of school, which is not nearly enough time. However, one very important trip is missing: a Costco trip.

1. Bags of Skinny Pop

Obviously, this is for the movie nights and bored eating we all do during the semester!

2. Good quality toilet paper

Either you have an apartment and need it, because dorm toilet paper simply will not suffice, or because your favorite stall will be out of it at some point.

3. Napkins and/or paper towels

I cannot tell you how often I have caught myself needing either a napkin of a paper towel, so they are definitely useful products to have around the apartment or dorm room.

4. Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamins

The biotin in this vitamin is great for your hair, skin, and nails. I have specifically noticed a difference in my nail health.

5. Large bag of your favorite candy

Study candy is a great item to have, especially when it ends up being your dinner for the night.

6. Pack of your favorite gum

If gum is not your thing, then please ignore this point.

7. Toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, toothbrushes or toothbrush heads

Even though you are in college, you still need to be responsible and take good care of your teeth. Good dental hygiene is great, and your dentist will love you; mine loves me because I am great at wearing my retainer and flossing every night. Just make sure to change your toothbrush or toothbrush head after being sick and every three months.

8. Feminine products

We women all need to stock up for a few months, and Costco offers great prices for our necessary supplies.

9. Chocolate-covered açai berries

Let's face it: you need these during your time of the month.

10. Box of chocolates

Look at the above comment.

11. Cash card

You are going run out of food or supplies at some point, so make sure your parents get a cash card for you at the register when you are checking out.

12. Pens

If you use pens to take notes, then you will need them. Otherwise, you don't really need them.

13. Dry-erase markers

Remember that dry-erase board you need to use? These markers will make using them more fun.

14. Healthful or protein-filled snacks

A jug of cashews, trail mix, Cliff Bars, etc. are all great snacks to hold you over for a little while until classes are over for the day or until dinner is ready.

15. Books

To get back in touch with your middle school self, buying and rereading the Diary of A Whimpy Kid series is not only going to consist of books that are easy to read, but it is also going to be a great break from all of those college reading assignments with which your brain struggles to keep up.

16. Suitcase

You can always use a new suitcase. Especially now that Christmas break is over, we need to carry back all of our presents. Therefore, we need at least one extra-large suitcase.

17. Fresh fruit

There can never be enough fresh fruit on any college campus.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
