1. You learn your way around campus
It seems very simple but being able to master the location of all the buildings is a must so that you are not the clueless freshman walking around with a map in your hand. You may not know where everything is but you have the basics down.
2. You learn everything is up to you
You decide when you eat, go to class, wake up, go to bed, do homework, etc. For some people, this may be a shock to the system if they are always used to a parent constantly monitoring them. It is truly the best, because whether we like it or not adulthood is right around the corner.
3. You learn time management
Every class and every professor are different. Sometimes, studying class notes to get A’s on a test is not enough. It usually requires you to go schedule a time to go to their offices, participate in class, take excellent notes, and study them.
4. You learn to live with other people
This can be one of the trickiest parts of college but remember that communication is key.
5. You learn that your family relationships change
You get along better with your parents, siblings, and friends while you are home because you know the time is limited. College teaches you how to pick your battles. Simple things love ones does that used to drive you insane are more tolerable now.
6. You learn the latest time you can wake up and still make it to class on time.
Pushing limits and improving your speed walking are all part of the morning routine.
7. You learn to appreciate every opportunity to get off campus
Although the campus may be beautiful, everyone calls it a bubble for a reason. Seeing new sights and being in a new environment is good for our souls. Take advantage of every opportunity you have to get off campus
8. You learn nothing is better than a home cooked meal
Ramen is great, but nothing beats the family’s favorites!
