Ever since I came home from school for the summer, I thought what better way to maximize my time at home before going abroad for the semester than to reflect on the past two years of schooling. Rather than sit like a bump on a log at my television all day, which, granted, has been the case for at least two weeks by now, I came up with a semi-extensive but entirely relevant list of five new things to learn, four things to improve, and three things to do during the summer of 2018. Whether you're working in an office on a nine-to-five schedule or working out four times a week this summer, there is something new that everyone can do to make all of our lives a bit more interesting.
1. Learn a new language (or the start of one)
Parlais vous francais? Oui, merci beaucoup! Au revoir!
2. Learn a new song (or two)
Ohhhhh we're halfway theereeee OOOOHHHH LIVIN' ON A PRAYYYERRR
3. Learn a new skill
I now know how do a split. #flexible
4. Learn new facts about the world
"When the moon is directly overhead, you will weigh slightly less." Cool, thanks google
5. Learn how to cook
Finally learned how to master my mom's chicken recipe...dope
6. Improve your self care
A facial once in a while can't hurt!
7. Improve your time management
10-11 am: gym
1-3 pm: read
4-5:30 pm: nap
8. Improve your eating habits
Let's not pick up that pretzel bag at 11 pm but say we did?
9. Improve your eye contact
The eyes are the windows to the soul, try looking at someone in the eyes this time instead of a phone.
10. Do go for that long walk around town
Scenic, peaceful, outdoorsy, a breath of fresh air
11. Do go after that dream of yours
Whatever it takes, be the best you can be, and go for what you want.
12. Do give yourself a moment of reflection
...and think about what people mean to you and how you portray yourself to others.
