So it's Valentine's Day and you're single. It doesn't have to be a bum day though! There are plenty of things to think about and perhaps do for yourself to make this upcoming Valentine's Day one to remember!
One of my favorite things to do on Valentine's Day (I've been single most Valentine's Days) is to take a relaxing bubble bath! Light some candles, grab a good book, turn on some relaxing music and soak in a bubble bath filled with good scented bath salts! It relaxes the nerves and it really helps if you're feeling down in the dumps!
Another thing you could do is spend times with friends! No, I don't mean be a third wheel with your best friend and her boyfriend. Hang out with some of your single friends and do something together! Whether you guys watch a movie together, or eat ice cream while complaining about your lack of a romantic life, it'll be great to do it with someone else. It'll make you feel less alone and of course it'll make you feel better overall!
If you can't find anyone to hang out with, go to Netflix and watch funny movies! Of course avoid movies with romantic stories interlaced in it. When you're too busy laughing at a funny movie, that means you're too busy to mope about being "forever alone!"
Listen to "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors. Seriously, that song can make the bluest of days seem brighter! Dance to it, cook to it, even wash dishes with it! If that song doesn't do it for you, pick one that does! There's also a music playlist on Spotify that's all about empowering women that don't need no man!
Put on fantastic makeup! Even if you're not going anywhere, putting on makeup has always made me feel better afterwards! My self esteem goes up and it distracts your mind from sad thoughts!
Read articles like this one! If you go on Facebook and look at everyone who is engaged and having a wonderful day with their significant other, you'll feel melancholy real fast. Instead, look up articles that explain why it's alright to be single on Valentine's Day! It doesn't mean you'll never find someone. It simply means you haven't met someone who deserves you yet!
Go to a local animal shelter and see the wide variety of animals! My philosophy to life is that no matter what is going wrong in your life, you can always be cheered up by petting and playing with a dog or a cat! If you already have a pet, give them extra attention! I have a Chihuahua myself that has comforted me through many things.
Go outside and get some Vitamin D! Whether it's cold or not outside, if you take a stroll outside, you'll feel more refreshed and alive! It's better than being stuffed up in your apartment with the blinds shut and lights off!
I hope this article helped in someway with your Valentine's Day blues! If you're single on Valentine's Day, it's NOT the end of the world and just remember that it's just a commercialized holiday! No matter what, just try and smile and have a wonderful day.
