If you live in Toledo, there's a slight chance that you think there's nothing to do here, but that's not the case. It turns out, Toledo has a lot going on. There are so many museums, sports arenas, parks, and restaurants to go to. We even at one point had the best zoo in the nation. Most of us just look past this because we have lived here for a while. Here are just a few of the things Toledo has to offer to cure your boredom:

1. Toledo Museum of Art

Located at 2445 Monroe Street, the art museum is home to over 30,000 works of art. Most of the work is from American and European painters, with a large focus in glass art.

Hours of Operation:

Tuesday and Wednesday: 10am-4pm

Thursday and Friday: 10am-9pm

Saturday: 10am-5pm

Sunday: 12pm-5pm

Monday: Closed

Admission:

Free with the exception of special exhibits.

2. Toledo Zoo & Aquarium

Located at 2 Hippo Way, off of the Anthony Wayne Trail, the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is home to over 9,000 animals that make up 800 different species. In 2014, the Toledo Zoo won the Best Zoo in the Nation title as picked by USA Today Travel.

Hours of Operation:

10am-5pm daily with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Admission Lucas County Residents:

Adult (12-59): $17.00

Child (2-11): $14.00

Senior (60+): $14.00

Child (Under 2): Free

Free Mondays between 10:00am and 12:00pm

Admission Non Lucas County Residents

Adult (12-59): $19.00

Child (2-11) $16.00

Senior (60+): $16.00

Child (Under 2): Free

3. Fifth Third Field

Located at 406 Washington Street is the home to our local minor league baseball team, the Toledo Mudhens. It's always fun to go downtown with friends and enjoy a baseball game. In fact, I'm getting ready to go to a game as I'm writing this article.

Hours of Operation:

This is a little different because the hours depend on the game schedule which can be found here.

Ticket Price:

$12.00

4. Imagination Station

Located at 1 Discovery Way, (off of Summit Street), Imagination Station is a hands on science museum. There's something there for the entire family. For those of you that don't know, Imagination Station is the replacement to COSI after it closed down in 2007.

Hours of Operation:

Tuesday-Saturday: 10:00am-5:00pm

Sunday: 12:00pm-5:00pm

Monday: Closed

Admission:

Adults (13-64) $11.00

Seniors (65+): $10.00

Kids (3-12): $9.00

Children (Under 2): Free


5. Ritter Planetarium

Located on the main campus of the University of Toledo, the Ritter Planetarium-Observatory gives you the opportunity to look at the universe in a way that makes you feel like you're actually out in space. It's mainly used for the astronomy students, but they offer public programs on the weekends. '

Admission:

$7 for adults

$5 for children, seniors, and UT community members.

Show Times:

Friday evenings at 7:30 pm.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
