Everyone knows Austin as the city that "keeps it weird", but does anyone actually know how it got this incredible reputation? The people are one of a kind, the food is spectacular, and it's the live music capital of the world; sounds perfect right? One minute you could be walking down a city street admiring the trendy shops downtown, and the next you could be hiking a beautiful trail in the hill country. There's always something to do, and life in Austin is never boring. Here are some great things to do in this interesting city.

1. Kayak or paddle board on Lady Bird Lake

It doesn't matter if you're a pro or an amateur, anyone can rent equipment. Just be sure you're great at balancing on a narrow surface, or you can sit and paddle. Trust me, no one will judge you. Unless you fall in the water while sitting; then they'll judge.

2. Visit the state capital

Take a tour at one of the most recognizable buildings in Texas. You might actually learn a little something about Texas history, and who doesn't love fun facts?

3. Watch bats emerge from under the Congress bridge

Yes, you read that correctly. Around 1.5 million bats make quite the little home for themselves under the bridge from spring to early fall, and if you get to the bridge at the right time (when the sun sets) they'll all fly out for their typical nightly adventure. It's truly indescribable and a must-see if you visit Austin.

4. Grab something to eat at the food trucks

You really can't go wrong with great food prepared in a small confined space. Sounds great right? Personally, some of the best food I've had in Austin came from a food truck. The options are endless, from a mac and cheese truck to a cupcake truck. My personal favorite is a place called Bananarchy. Frozen bananas dipped in chocolate? Yes, please.

5. Check out some live music

I mean, it's the "live music capital of the world". Not much to say here except to go get tickets to a show at Stubb's, Emo's or go all in with Austin City Limits and make a weekend out of it.

6. Experience Austin's nightlife on 6th Street

There shouldn't ever be a weekend where you're bored and don't know what to do. 6th Street is crawling with entertainment and it's the best spot to enjoy all the night has to offer.

7. Visit Zilker Park

Grab a blanket, some great company, and head to this huge patch of grass with endless outdoor possibilities all while viewing Austin's city skyline. Also, there are a ton of adorable dogs that roam around so it's obviously the place to be. I mean, who doesn't love dogs?

8. Hike Mount Bonnell

It's one of the top tourist hikes and it doesn't disappoint. It's a must if you love hiking and happen to be in the area.

9. Create your own mark on the city at Graffiti Park

Grab the spray paint, a few friends, and a great idea and make your mark on the city. The options are endless. Just be sure not to cover up someone else's artwork, they worked hard on that too. Or if that intimidates you, there's always the option to see a view of the city at the top of the wall.

10. Visit The University of Texas

I may be a little biased, but I truly believe "what starts here changes the world". The UT campus is just so beautiful, there's always something going on on campus. Take a tour of the tower, watch the turtles sunbathe in the turtle pond, or catch a sport event. There's really so much to explore just on the campus, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
