From the Shaun White's to your average Snowboard Jones', every snowboarder has heard these at some point or another. If you haven't, here's some decently annoying things to look forward to hearing:
1. Snowboarding is technically a new sport, right?"
Snowboarding is a new-ish sport (1965 to be technical) but that was also the year The Sound of Music premiered and no one considers it to be a new movie.
2. Skiing is way harder than snowboarding."
That's dependent on each individual person and even if it was, does that really matter?
3. "Can you teach me how?"
Its a sport, not a game of pool. Teaching it should be left to the professional instructors so no one gets hurt.
4. "Have you ever broken anything while snowboarding?"
Do we really have to re-live the embarrassing stories of not landing a jump/crashing into a tree/running into something? Most athletes get injured at some point or another, just wait till we bring it up first.
5. "You must be really comfortable with heights to be on a mountain."
Its not skydiving, some of us still close our eyes on the Tram.
6. "Why spend so much money on equipment?"
Honestly, some things are worth the money. Nice, warm clothes so you don't get sick, good bindings for ankle support, a board that is custom to each individual and its all for love of the sport.
