A couple of weeks ago, the sky decided to open up and all Hell broke loose. Louisiana schools were closed and we were given a beautiful five-day weekend.
Whenever I have extra free time, I honestly don't know what to do with myself. With that being said, it was a struggle to find things to do. Here are some things that I ended up doing that may help you out on your newly-acquired free days.
1. Catch-up on shows.
Take advantage of this free time to catch up on all of those shows that you've been neglecting for school work. Once you've finished your show, start a new one. It's a glorious, never-ending cycle.
2. Finish up schoolwork as soon as you can.
With all of this extra time you have, you should finish up any homework you have as soon as possible. This gets it out of the way and allows you to spend your free time on more exciting things.
3. Drink.
What better way to celebrate no school other than to pop open a brewski or five? The great thing about no school is that you're free to stay out as late as you want with no regrets.
4. Sleep in.
No alarms, no problems. You can sleep in as late as you want and NOT feel guilty about it. It is definitely a great feeling to have. It's 2:30 PM and you're just waking up? That's alright.
5. Nap.
I literally never have time for naps when I'm on my normal schedule, so I always seize the opportunity when I can. I've napped twice today and it's only 5 PM. Take advantage of it.
6. Go home and visit family.
You have some free days. Why not go home and spend some time with family? Going home and visiting family is a good way to get an extra boost for when you do get back into school. It definitely heightens your morale.
7. Finish up what you've been avoiding.
Make a list of things that you have needed to get done, but just haven't gotten around to doing it. You'll be shocked to find with the amount of stuff you've got on your list. It really helps in figuring out what exactly you've been putting on the back burner.
8. Absolutely nothing.
This is the perfect time to just lay in bed and do nothing at all. You have little to no responsibilities, and an ample amount of time to waste. This doesn't happen very often, so savor every moment of it.
As great as this past week has been, I've been suffering from cabin fever. Whenever my routine is taken away, it really throws me off.
Here's hoping that you can find something meaningful to fill your time with whenever you're hunkered down for a storm. Find a new show, catch up on sleep, and do a whole lot of nothing.
