When you've made it - everyone is curious about you. They want to know how you did what you did that well. There are a few common denominators between the successful that seem to lack in those that get by as average. Everyone wants to be great - and these are just a few extra steps that those who actually get there can say they probably took.
1. Wakes up earlier than 8 am (even on off days).
Waking up early not only allows you to have time to gather your life before the chaos of the day sets in, but it also aids in the quality of your sleep. Waking up at the same time everyday helps our circadian rhythm fall into a pattern that is beneficial for our health, according to verywell.com.
2. Has a great morning routine.
There are so many things you can do in the morning if you're up before the majority of people. You can map out your day, stretch or meditate, do a quick workout, or even just slowly sip your coffee and eat a nutritious breakfast. All of which are preparing you for the day ahead of you. Plus, you won't be stumbling into work or class half asleep like those who woke up 10 minutes before they had to leave.
3. Reads a little bit everyday.
Whether its an article online, a book, or the local newspaper, every successful person stimulates their brain by getting acquainted with new ideas and words each day.
4. Not only eats healthy - but takes vitamins.
Taking vitamin supplements is just as important as eating healthy. Especially if you aren't getting the nutrients you need from food! Make sure to always remember that these are a viable option, but they shouldn't replace a healthy diet.
5. Does something active.
You don't have to hit the gym to be "active". Sometimes, its better to get outside and get moving. A walk, run, or hike is an equally proficient way to ensure good things for your health and fitness levels. Get creative with it, and have fun!
6. Works ahead.
Working ahead is important because often things come up that are out of your control. Having a little bit of extra time to deal with these dilemmas will make them a lot less stressful, trust me.
7. Takes a break when its necessary.
This goes hand in hand with working ahead. If you work ahead, you can avoiding working and studying until your head is throbbing and you're ready to fall asleep. You can afford to take breaks before you reach your burnout point. This will save you time and make you a lot more productive in the meantime.
8. Gets enough sleep every night.
Another sleep one, yes I know. It seems obvious, but its too important not to include. The National Sleep Foundation recommends 7-9 hours a night for young adults and middle aged adults. This means heading to bed around 10-12 pm each night depending on what your wake up call is.
9. Writes everything down.
Lists, schedules, brainstorming - whatever it is, it should be written down. Maybe you prefer computer, maybe a notepad and paper is more your style. Any way you slice it, Taking notes down of things you're inspired by, dates and times, and more can't really hurt you - it will always help! Jot it down, organize your thoughts and set reminders = success.
10. They put themselves out of their comfort zones.
Simply put, nothing that amazing will every be accomplished by staying in your home, or hiding from the world. Putting yourself in positions of discomfort, and conquering that feeling will open doors that many other people are simply too scared to open.
There are many more things successful people do, and some successful people may not do some of the things I listed above. But if you're looking to be successful in whatever endeavors you embark on (I mean who isn't, right?), then this list will definitely help you get a head start. It won't hurt to try, right!?
