Things Every College Grad Should Do This Summer

Because we don't really have plans for the summer...or life.

You did it. You FINALLY got that college degree. Some of us are starting our jobs as soon as possible, but some of us are a little more flexible this summer and want to enjoy life a bit before we have to be real adults. Here's a list of a few things every college grad should consider doing this summer.

1. TRAVEL.

You don't have to buy an expensive plane ticket and go backpacking through Europe. Traveling can be cheap if you do it the right way. Take a road trip with the squad. Spontaneously head to the beach or an amusement park or something.

2. Spend some time at home.

It's been a long time and you know your parents miss the days when you were freeloading on their couch all summer, even if they won't admit it.

3. If you haven't already, move into your own place.

You're an educated person now, let society know it. You do not want to become a sweaty, basement dwelling 35 year old playing video games in your underwear waiting for the pizza that dad ordered.

4. GET A JOB!

5. Spend some time outside.

You didn't get to do this much while you were working all those summer jobs, hit the beach or the pool or go to the park and take a hike.

6. Volunteer.

This doesn't seem to be the route most college graduates take, but there's nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer. Do something good for the community that's been good to you.

Let loose for once. Finals are over! Get together with some friends and let loose, you deserve it.

5. Move to a different city.

This usually comes with getting a job in that city. Regardless, a change of scenery could be a great new endeavor to tackle.

6. Splurge on something for yourself.

If you've achieved the almost unachievable (saving money in college), treat yourself. Buy something nice: a new TV, a video game console, a car, a plane ticket, maybe even a house!

7. Eat some a lot of pizza. Why not?

8. Start working out. It couldn't hurt, right?

Learn to cook. (Premade pasta doesn't count.)

9. Take up a new hobby. Go rock-climbing or learn to fish.

10. Host or attend a barbecue. Again, why not?

One word: Bonfire.

11. SPEND SOME TIME WITH THE SQUAD.

Gone are the days when you could stay up until 5AM playing games and watching TV. Cherish the time you have with your second family. #SquadForever

12. Stay up all night for the fun of it.

Watch the sunset and sun rise; you won't want to pull all nighters when you're old anyway

13. Go to a concert or music festival.

14. Have a pajama day in with friends and watch movies.

15. Go on a date.

16. Change your look.

Whether it's a new wardrobe or a new hair color, experimenting is always fun.

17. Go to a carnival or a state fair.

18. Eat breakfast for dinner.

Find the nearest waffle house and have at it!

19. Do something daring.

Go skydiving or bungee jumping. Live a little.

20. “Do good,” the wise words of Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World.

Whatever you plan on doing this summer, just remember that life is short and you want to make sure you live life the way you want to, and no one else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
