I am beginning my third year of living in a dorm room, and I have come up with a ton of different ways to decorate my room. However, I do believe, as far as major decorations, I am as basic as they come.

1. Pictures, pictures and more pictures.
Every basic girl takes so many pictures and sends them to various different websites to get printed, or they take tons of polaroids. They're hung in every which way on the walls. Whether they're hung on string, on lights or just taped to the wall, every girl has pictures everywhere.

2. String lights are everywhere.
Some people just put them on the wall in one place, and others hang them all over the ceiling. Girls love to use them to accent the wall and provide a little extra light.

3. Tapestries take up the whole wall.
Urban Outfitters has the worlds largest selection of "hip" tapestries (not really but it sure seems like it). They cost a fortune to just be a large piece of fabric on the wall, but the patterns hung on the wall change the whole feel and every girl must have one.

4. A massive amount of throw pillows is a must.
Who needs actual bed space as long as its cute? Having a ton of throw pillows turns a basic bed from drab to fab. Am I right ladies?

5. Succulents add some color.
Fake plants or real, adding succulents is a good way to add a homey feel to any boring dorm. Also, succulents require a lot less care than a regular 'ol green plants.

6. Monograms in any sort.
If you live in the south, almost every dorm room you walk into will have at least one monogram. It might be a wall decoration, or maybe a pillow, but girls like to define their space with their initials.

7. At least ten mugs for everyday.
Every college girl loves her coffee, so there is an entire shelf dedicated to at least ten mugs for every day of the week.

8. Canvas with everything you could imagine.
Bible verses, quotes from Pinterest or tumblr, or a painting done in their spare time, if the wall isn't covered in pictures, its completely covered in canvases.

9. The room is DIY central.
From tassle hangings and pendant banners to weird modpodged collage "things," girls love to come up with the most random things from Pinterest to add some personality.

10. Mason jars can be used for literally everything.
Girls love to add jars. They can be used for basically everything from makeup brush holders, pencil cups, mugs, and spare change. They will literally be used for everything in a dorm room.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
