5 Things College Students Miss Most About School Over The Summer

For the first time in your life, you're actually kind excited to get back to school.

Finals week rolls around.

You're so ready to be out of school you could scream. You finally take that last final, you move out, and you come back to your childhood home (or wherever you may reside over the summer). The first couple weeks are great and all, but a month passes and you start to miss your college town and your college life.

Here are the things you miss the most during those long college summers:

1. Your favorite local restaurants.

You know the best local places around your college town. You're a regular at that one coffee shop, that one Mexican restaurant, and that one late night spot. You daydream about these wonderful places while you sit at home and fix yourself something to eat... sigh.

2. Your favorite college hangouts.

You miss your favorite spots to chill out and relax. You fondly remember the days where you and your friends would sit on north campus or split queso at Taco Stand then stay and chat for hours (while procrastinating, of course). There just seems to be a whole lot less to do when you're back home. You think to yourself: "Seriously... what did we do in high school?"

3. Not having to fill up your gas tank every 3 days;

If you're anything like me, when you're at school you kind of just walk everywhere. Most of your time spent in your car is for trips to the grocery store, to the library, or to a local coffee shop. Long story short, you never really drive *that* far... and your bank account thanks you. Being home often means driving 20 minutes to get where you need to go and everything just seems so much farther away. You miss the days where you could go a week and a half before filling up your tank.

4. Most importantly, your friends.

Most of all, you miss your college friends. College is weird because most of your best friends don't live anywhere near you (unless you're lucky), and you spend the whole summer basically in a long distance relationship. You miss doing everything together... because let's face it you studied together, ate together, watched Netflix together, and complained together. You miss your partners in crime.

5. Who would've ever thought I'd miss going to school?

Although you spend your last couple weeks of college dreading your tests, papers, and exams, you really will miss it while you're gone. For the first time in your life, you're actually kind of excited (if not really excited) to get back to school. You might even count down the days. Isn't college the best?

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
