Ladies, you are strong, beautiful, amazing, and glorious. However, college is a new experience for some people and people still struggle with it. Here are 13 things that you need to know about college regardless of how many years you've been at college.
Be Guarded
Although people do preach that women need to be more vulnerable, you need to have a little guard up just in case the person you're opening up to is a snake. Not the T-Swift snake either.
If you ever feel uncomfortable in a situation, get out now!!
Whether it is sorority recruitment, a date with a guy, or even a night out with friends. You are a person who should not feel peer pressured into anything that makes you uncomfortable, if you speak up and they don't like it, leave.
Don't fall head over heels over the first guy you meet
This will lead to extreme heartbreak and it's not good. I'm not saying to not give effort in a relationship, but don't go planning your whole future with him after the first date.
Cherish your friends and family
They may be the only people you have to support you in your darkest times. For me it has always been my mom, my friends and my (now three) excellent roommates. These people for the most part has been there for me and despite everything including my summer shutout (will be discussed later) they're there for me in my darkest times.
Don't let girl drama get in the way of goals
Chances are that the people you are beefing with you won't see again, especially if you're on a big campus and is totally different major than you. If you have a class or organization with the person again, just say hi and be civil, that will get you places.
Be confident
Confidence is the only way you will survive in college, confidence can be in the way you dress, they way you present yourself and is like "oh yeahh, I'm smart, hot, and ready to get my degree." It's not all about looks either it can be the way that you study and walk into the test feeling like "ohh yeahh I studied really hard so I know I'm going to get an A thanks to my fabulous brain." However, do not get too cocky, because then there are some problems.
Take advantage of the cheap shops in the area
Some cheap shops may have the dress you need for a formal, or things you need for a quick presentation outfit. Honesty I got my Halloween costume for goodwill and it worked out well, plus sometimes you'll get super cute clothes for less.
There is no dress code, but if you have to present dress up (to a degree)
Colleges don't have dress codes, so basically you can whatever you want, which is liberating. However, if it is a present day, you may want to leave the bra top at home and dress a little professional for that day. That doesn't mean you have to dress like a nun, no just a plain shirt, matching pants (not jeans, shorts or skin-tight leggings), and matching shoes.
Have a mace/taser and learn to use it
They usually average ten bucks at local sports store, but they are good for whenever you are walking alone because it will save your life if you live in a gun-free campus.
Don't be afraid to speak up!
Be brave and bold, stand up for yourself, most likely you're standing up for a good cause. Don't be silenced, let your voice be heard.
Society changes their standards everyday, don't listen to them!
The mainstream changes their minds faster than a girl who changes her mood. One day the mainstream media says that if you're not a size 00, then you're not attractive. The next day the mainstream media says that you need to be a size 20 to be attractive. Be healthy and be you, ignore them and live your best life.
You are amazing and gorgeous and don't let anyone take that away from you.
