Spring break is undoubtedly a good time. Wherever you are headed, you’re bound to have a fun week, without the pressures of exams, lab reports, or roommate drama. There is one thing that can make your week of freedom 10 times worse, though: forgetting a crucial item while packing. Packing is tough, because it takes a lot of foresight to get it perfectly right. Most likely, you’ll forget something. Just don’t forget one of these eight things:
1. Your ID
Forgetting your identification, regardless of whether you are driving or flying, can be absolutely disastrous. There’s nothing like that feeling of realizing you forgot your only way to get on a plane.
2. Sunscreen
This may sound like something your mother says, but seriously. If you’re skiing, bring sunscreen. If you’re on the beach, obviously bring sunscreen. You don’t want to come back from break looking like a poached lobster and feeling like you got cooked on a grill.
3. Cash
I rarely carry cash with me, which is a mistake. Only having a card can be dangerous and carrying cash can help you out in emergency situation.
4. Sunglasses
There’s nothing worse than spending your entire vacation squinting into the sun. Actually, there is one thing worse than that. Buying really ugly cheap sunglasses at a gas station because you forgot yours.
5. A hat
Have you ever had your scalp get sunburned? Trust me, don’t let it get that far.
6. A phone charger (and converter if you need one)
What if you couldn’t take photos on your vacations? Or keep in touch with all your college friends? Don’t let your phone die. Pack the charger.
7. A good book
Read for pleasure for once, instead of skimming your textbook at 2 a.m. It’s good for you. If you need a recommendation, try "All the Light We Cannot See."
8. A good attitude
Although this may seem ridiculous to list, it’s important to remember. Sometimes, things go terribly wrong while traveling: flights get cancelled, you hit insane traffic, or your hotel room may look a little different from the online photos. Just go with the flow and enjoy your vacation!
Everyone have a safe and relaxing spring break!
