10 Things All Beagle Owners Would Understand

Recently within the past few months my boyfriend and I got a beagle named Remmy. Remmy is now six months old and within these past few months we have learned so much. Being this is our first time having a beagle neither of us expected the things that we have encountered. Here are 10 things that only beagle owners would understand.

1. They are ALWAYS hungry.

Food is Remmy's favorite thing in the entire world. She eats and eats and eats constantly. You could be eating anything in the world and Remmy will want some. She will also stare at you the whole time you eat. It is as if they have never ending stomachs.

2. They are stubborn.

Listening is not the easiest thing for beagles to do. You can tell them no or to stop doing something and it is no use. Beagles will do what they want to do. One of Remmy's biggest problems is messing with the cat. She is constantly wanting to play with the cat and no matter how many times we tell her to leave the cat alone she is too stubborn to do so.

3. They want to meet everyone.

I know whenever we take our beagle out in public or someone comes to our house she always feels the need to say hello and greet them. She will jump on them and lick them and needs all of their attention. So be prepared to be dragged to visit everyone.

4. Barking and howling, and lots of it.

That ear shattering, loud, but yet funny howl. All beagles do it and sometimes they have no reason for doing it. Beagles are full of noise and all beagle owners know this.

5. The hound dog smell never goes away.

Beagles will always have that stinky yet able to be dealt with hound dog smell. Many people think that if you give a hound dog a bath the smell will just go away. No, this isn't the case. In fact baths make beagles smell more like a hound!

6. You cannot ignore the puppy dog eyes.

Beagles always have and always will have those naturally adorable puppy dog eyes. Beagles have this everlasting baby face that they never seem to grow out of which makes it hard to stay mad at them.

7. They love giving kisses.

You'll be woke up with kisses. You'll go to bed with kisses. Beagles love to give puppy dog kisses. They are very affectionate animals. My favorite thing to do is to lay in bed and snuggle with my Remmy.

8. They sleep in the silliest ways.

We never know if we will be waking up with a paw in our back or with a puppy on your head. Beagles sleep in the strangest and most uncomfortable positions.

9. They love car rides.

All we have to say is "go get in the car?" and Remmy is ready to go. When we are in the car she loves to stick hear head out the window and have her ears blow in the wind. She is a riding dog and always will be.

10. They are lovable.

Snuggles and kisses and just playing around, beagles are so lovable. Remmy loves to lay and bed and watch TV with us and just be near us.

I can honestly say beagles are one of my favorite breeds of dog! They are so sweet and fun and sometimes smart. I wouldn't trade my beagle for anything in the world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
