So it's almost the end of the school year, and I am more than thankful for that fact. As I write this article, I'm supposed to be writing an eleven page literature review, memorizing a new speech for nationals, and I could probably stand to do laundry, among other housekeeping things that are driving my roommates noticeably crazy. The end of the school year is a simultaneously exciting yet distressing time for cramming assignments, packing up apartments and frantically trying to sell textbooks back for more than the cost of a Taco Bell meal. So for every other college student who is experiencing the whirlwind of emotions associated with the end of a school year, this is for you. You can do it! And when you're finished reading this article, get back to writing that term paper.
1. Yay! Only five weeks left in the semester!
I can't believe I'm almost done with this year! This has gone by so fast and I've had so much fun.
2. Oh my god. I can't believe I procrastinated this much.
Yeah. I've got paper, projects, and presentations due too. How am I doing it? Diet Coke and margaritas, honey.
3. Do I HAVE to pack?
It's literally the worst part of getting ready for the summer. I keep telling myself that I'll pack up little things I don't need and take them home in shifts, but as mentioned above, I procrastinate too much. Whoops.
4. I can't wait to move back home.
You mean I don't have to share a room, I get a queen sized bed and someone else is going to buy groceries? YAS.
5. Wait, I changed my mind. I can wait.
Hang on. That means I have to deal with my siblings and a curfew for three months before my senior year of college.
6. Summer vacation is going to be great! I need a break.
A triple packed schedule with school, work and extracurricular activities is so exhausting. I'm so ready to sleep in and go on adventures with my friends.
7. But let's be realistic...
I'm going to work this summer. That's not a break. Also my summers are always boring. I don't go anywhere or really do anything. So there's that.
8. I'm going to get so tan!
No I won't. I'll burn. Also I don't really go outside either. Fairest of them all forever and always.
9. Oh right. I still have five weeks of school left. I need to focus.
Five weeks. Five weeks. Five weeks.
10. When was the last time I peed?
I've been writing this paper for 6 hours, before that I spent a solid 4 making a study guide, and before that I was sleeping? So 14 hours maybe? That can't be healthy.
11. I have to stop spending money.
When the school year starts winding down, I lose all motivation for anything. Since I have to do homework and other important stuff, my energy for cooking goes waaaaaaay down. Pizza is cheap and fast. But not when you buy food all. the. time.
12. Do I actually have free time right now or am I just forgetting everything?
I'm sure there's something else I should be doing. This isn't real.
13. That's it! I have to swear off social media until I finish everything.
It's my biggest source of procrastination.
14. LOL JK.
Who am I kidding? I have to keep up with every trivial thing that is going on in cyberland.
15. My friends are graduating and I have to stay here.
How am I going to survive a year without them? They make things fun! I'm going to miss them so much.
16. Also, none of my friends live close to me.
When I go home for the summer, my closest friend lives an hour away. Everyone else lives at least two and a half hours away, and some more than that. Boo.
17. I forgot that assignment was due.
Literally as I'm writing this, my friend sitting next to me says to herself "Stop procrastinating! You have six other papers due." Then I remembered that we're in the same class, which means I also have six other papers to do. Which means...
18. No sleep
ALL NIGHTERS. ALL THE TIME. WHO NEEDS SLEEP? NOT ME. (just kidding. I need sleep. So much sleep.)
19. Senioritis.
I'm a junior. I have plenty of underclassmen that I hang out with on a regular basis. We're all experiencing it. You don't have to be a senior.
20. I'm ready to go back to school.
I know this year isn't over yet and I still have time to be with my friends, but I'm already counting down the days until I can move back in and start my last year of college with my crazy amazing friends.
