The best things about Winter Break
College Winter Break

Whether you're leaping for joy alongside your dog or mourning the loss of your good GPA and that comes along with that, it's finally Winter Break for us students at the University of Georgia. For most of you, this means you get almost an entire month of dong absolutely nothing but sitting on the couch, eating too much food, and sleeping all day, wherever your body decides to doze off. During this period of guilt-free laziness also comes these top 10 most common aspects of Christmas Break:

1. Netflix binging

All of those knew shows you just never had the time to watch during the busy school days are now at the top of your priority list. Get some popcorn, put on your comfiest pajamas, and enjoy the beauty of lazy entertainment.

2. Not having school work casting a giant shadow of anxiety over you

Do I even need to explain why this is such a beautiful Winter Break treat? No more papers, no more Webassign, no more tests, nothing. You have zero necessity to use your brain for the next month.

3. Diving into your hobbies

Never have time to read all the books on your shelf, or paint any of those canvases sitting in your room? Now is your time to indulge oh so heavily in what you just never have time to do. Express yourself this month!

4. Getting "too much sleep"

Is that even a thing? Who says sleeping all day is not good for you? When all you've done for the past 4 months is not sleep so this is your time to shine... Or never get out of bed.

5. Getting good quality family/friend time

There's nothing like the company of your loving family and old friends from high school. Ice skating, Christmas caroling, baking yummy treats, and of course, shopping for Christmas presents are always more fun to do when you have loved ones by your side.

6. Mom & Dad's wallet are within reach

Now you have a constantly stocked fridge, a comfy queen sized bed, free utilities, and never enough chances to snag some mulla out of the rents' wallets. Oops, hope I didn't give you any ideas ;)

7. Putting on that extra layer of skin to keep you warm for the winter

So many Christmas cookies with so much icing, so much Pumpkin pie, so many delicious casseroles, so much candy in your stocking! Holiday weight just isn't debatable this season... Maybe next year.

8. Gifts

So many gifts. Whether you're giving or receiving, there is nothing better than that warm fuzzy feeling you get while unwrapping an amazing gift. And don't even get me started about the beauty of Christmas morning... Presents, presents, and more presents!

9. Celebrating two awesome holidays on one break

Whether you prefer Christmas or New Years, there is always fun to be had throughout the entire break. First, Christmas. Then you don't even have time to be sad that it's over because then New Years Eve hits! Love and gifts, then fun and champagne. It's the best of both worlds.

10. Trying to break the festivity scale but realizing:

Enjoy this time to relax and love on those you are away from when you're at school. College is hard but it's only for a time, memories with loved ones are forever. Happy Holidays!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
