Chronicles Of A Work Week

TGITW (thank god it's the weekend)

We all know the struggle can be real during the week, especially while working every day. I am so fortunate for the job I have, and the skills I have been able to gain from an environment full of professionalism, productivity and friendliness. In my experience as a full-time employee, there are definitely days when you can barely get out of bed, and then those occasional mornings you wake up ready to take on anything that may come your way. Some weeks go by fast, others slowly, but no matter the speed at which time flies, there's always the weekend to look forward to.

Monday: Feeling refreshed.

There's a newfound energy you have after relaxing for two days with a nice weekend. You probably met up with some friends, traveled out of town, or just binge-watched some Netflix shows you hadn't been able to catch up on during the week. The bags under your eyes have disappeared and coffee doesn't sound as prevalent as usual.

Tuesday: I'm hanging in there.

Alright, here comes another four days of fast-paced work and long hours in slacks. Although, outdoor jobs in that triple degree weather make yours seem a lot more accommodating! You finally get out of bed after hitting the snooze button twice and begin your day. That coffee that seemed insignificant yesterday sounds like a great idea today.

Wednesday: Hump Day.

We've reached the half-way point! Those under-eye bags have reappeared, but you're sticking it out strong. Where's that coffee? The store better not be packed with customers or else I'll have to keep my eyes open with toothpicks for my 8 a.m. meeting. You might also get bombarded with requests or changes you weren't expecting which is really adding to your increasing stress levels. By the time the evening has approached and you drive home, you can't even physically respond when someone asks, "How was your day."

Thursday: Pay day?

Depending on the month, pay day may fall on a very special Thursday and I become a very happy employee. You learn plenty of valuable skills at work, but there's nothing quite similar than getting that paycheck delivered in your bank account. One day left? I got this -- I hope.

Friday: Or should I say, FriYay!

This day could not have come sooner! You never really liked coffee before, but now it's the only thing that keeps you alive during the week. You might seem a bit more anxious sitting at your desk as the minutes pass by slower and slower, but it's so worth the wait. Employees are smiling a little more and you've managed to complete all of your tasks. Here's to a weekend consisting of meals that don't include a drive-thru and the chores you've been pushing off all week!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
