There Are Two Sides To Every Holiday
Megan Christmas

With the holiday season upon us, lots of people begin to feel lonely or suffocated. But, I’m here to tell you that you shouldn’t, because there are two sides to every holiday.

Single:

Yes, it can feel very lonely. But there are a lot of bright sides to not having a significant other during these times. For one, think of all the money you can save. That’s just 1 more gift you don’t have to buy. And let’s face it, when buying for our boyfriends, we girls tend to go a little overboard. Second, you don’t have to create a schedule to make sure you spend time with each family. As fun as it is to be with so many people and enjoy all the company, it can get very tiring and hard to please everybody. Third, think of all the extra time you can have. You can put that towards time for yourself, family time, time to play with or try on your new gifts, cooking time, or my all time favorite naptime!!! Also, if you’re like me and not from the same state as your boyfriend, you don’t have to spend time missing him because you’re not together. Another reason that was a personal favorite: you don’t have to think of them when you make decisions. And by that, I mean when your girls want a night out, you can be the first to say yes without hesitation. Lastly, when it comes to your NYE kiss, you’re not tied to just one person. You can collect as many as your heart desires.

Taken:

This is probably the most desired side during this season, and for good reasons. With a significant other, you get at least one extra present. And who doesn’t love presents? And as nice as it is to save that extra money, it’s always an amazing feeling when you see the look on his face because you got him the perfect gift. As far as creating that schedule, it can be very nice to get to see and hang out with so many people. I mean let’s face it, everyone gets tired of their own families after awhile. Plus, more family gatherings = more food = happier happiness. And with a boyfriend, you can make him do all those cute holiday activities that you know you love and he secretly does too. One of my favorites is making him drive you around to look at all the Christmas lights. When your girls decide they want a GNO, even with a boyfriend you should be all over it like white on rice. Because if any guy wants to keep you from having a good time with your girls, then kick him to the curb now because he is not the one for you, trust me. And finally, no you can’t go around collecting as many NYE kisses as possible, but the one you do get from him, seems to blow all others out of the water and makes everything worth it.

Regardless of your relationship status, spend time with those you love and have a wonderful holiday season with those who matter most.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
