Over the past few days, I've seen too much nonsense up on my feed on Facebook and Instagram. The moment I found out that same-sex marriage was now legal in our country, my hope for a better world was completely restored. Seeing videos up on my news feeds and on the news of people yelling and jumping up and down and even crying of joy because now love is actually legal; it's astounding. But yet, all kind of love is, and that's how it should've been from the start. However, the worldwide reaction wasn't what I thought it would be. Now I understand everyone is entitled to have their own opinion, but is there really wrong and right when it comes to love?
For those who really don't understand how EVERYONE can love whoever they want, I came up with a little imagination exercise. Imagine that the world was different. Had different "rights" and "wrongs" and what was deemed "right" was men being married to men and woman being married to woman. So what if they told you it was wrong to love the person you're with right now, which in this scenario, would be a man marrying a woman? I put myself in that position and I couldn't even explain how horrible it would feel if they told me it was wrong to love and potentially marry my boyfriend. That's just a small example of how many people in our world felt until last week.
So my point here is that really in our world nothing is normal. Nothing is right or wrong because every culture is different but one thing that as far as I have seen that is not different is that love is love. It's something everyone wants and everyone needs at in life, and no one should be able to take that away from any living human. Our world is filled with people that feel love in a different way and we have to embrace that and understand that its something that will never change.
We need to let people love and we have to learn to love too. We have to love who we have in our lives and everyone should be able to feel the joy that being in love brings you, no matter what their perspective is. We were brought to this Earth for a reason, each one of us, and no one was brought here to judge or tear others down. We were put here for a unique reason but we are also one of many species in this world that has the right to love and to be loved. That is something we can never forget, no matter where you're from or what you do, always have that in mind. Love is love and that needs no further explanation.
