So, it’s pretty obvious now that Moana has landed another Disney role in the new "Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet" (whew, that’s a title!) trailer. How did she get there? Is that really her? How does she know how to play that game so well? I have answers to these questions and more, and it just took a little deducting (and a lot of time and creativity) to figure them out!
So is this really Moana? Yes and no. Obviously, she’s in her younger form. There are two solutions to this problem: Either "Wreck-It Ralph 2" is a "Moana" prequel in disguise, or that’s not, and this is actually the future. I'll explain.
1. It Wasn’t Moana at All Theory:
It’s not a prequel, it’s a sequel! The baby Mona is actually Maui, who shape-shifted into baby Moana. Why did he do this? He’s secretly in love with the mother in the car, for sake of arguing, we'll call her Oprah. Maui heard her one night how Oprah wanted another baby and Maui gave that to her in the form of himself. By now, it’s been 15 years later and Oprah's daughter is still a baby, now she’s starting to get suspicious. And Maui, on the other had, has realized he’s completely stuck as a baby that’s never growing up. In "Moana 2", Moana needs to rescue Maui from his baby dilemma. Don’t worry, Disney, I’m already writing it for you!
2. The Baby Isn’t Moana Theory:
Simple it seems—this has no correlation to "Moana" at all. But, that baby looks too much like Moana to not question it. Here’s why: the mother driving the car is Moana. Baby Moana is her daughter! That’s right, off the island she went and landed a nice job in NYC and began her dream life... or so she thought! "Moana 2: Escape from the Office." I’m already writing that one too, Disney, so you’ll have plenty of options!
3. "Moana" Prequel Theory:
So let's say that it is baby Moana. How did she get there? Simple, the water took her there. Think of this as the waters way of performing an Amish rumspringa (except it's less of a coming-of-age thing and more of a choose-your-path deal ((which I guess rumspringa is too, but whatever. it doesn't matter))). We got Moana's childhood as a song. Basically. We went from baby Moana to grade school age Moana within a few verses of a song. Some might think, "that's just to speed up time, it's to see her past quickly." I think that's because when she was a baby, the water took her to the nearest city so she could see how she liked living off of the island with a family (Oprah). Obviously she didn't like wearing shoes or something, and the water chose to take her back. This explains the missing childhood, as well as how she got into the car in the first place.
There you have it! My theories for the Moana-Ralph Paradox. If you have any theories of your own feel free to comment!
