One of the most under-appreciated television networks in the country has got to be TLC. Sure, this network seems mostly oriented towards bored college students and the wedding-obsessed. However, this is still priceless entertainment that cannot be found anywhere else. I must admit that I have been TLC obsessed my whole life, so I am an expert when it comes to TLC and their long line of successful and hilarious TV shows. For anyone looking for a new Netflix show to binge-watch, here are some suggestions.
"Say Yes to the Dress"
By far the best show on TLC by a wide margin, thanks to the hilarious workers at Kleinfeld and the endless supply of crazy brides. This show is full of glitter, tiaras, and tears.
"Cake Boss"
Centered around a cool New York bakery where Carlos makes the most incredible cakes anyone has ever seen. Not only are these artistic masterpieces, but they actually also look delicious. I always watch this show in the mornings at the gym as it gives me motivation to run faster and dream about trying his cakes one day.
"I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant"
I enjoy this show mostly because I will just never understand how a person could not know they were pregnant. If you can get past this, the show is fairly hilarious to watch the women re-enact the story of how they gave birth, and how they deal with having an unexpected child.
"Extreme Couponing"
This show features skilled shoppers who demonstrate their ability to take couponing to an extreme. If you are fascinated by people buying bulk toilet paper or using 200 coupons and walking away with a bill of negative two dollars, then this is the ideal show for you. It’s strangely addicting to watch and wonder where the shoppers will store their bulk purchases.
"My Strange Addictions"
Without this show, I would have never had any idea people can be addicted to eating couch cushions or marrying dolls. While it is definitely not always G-rated, it has all the best elements of TLC shows: drama, intrigue, and a slightly offbeat topic.
"What Not to Wear"
Back in high school, my friends and I would always try to send in our teachers for this show. Each episode is full of frumpy clothes, crazy hair-dos, and an unlimited shopping spree in New York. The highlight of the show is the transformation reveal at the end of the episode.
"Four Weddings"
The premise of the show is that four soon-to-be brides go to each other’s weddings and rate and review their experience at each wedding. The ratings include categories like wedding dress, venue, food, and overall experience. The winner at the end gets a free honeymoon for having the best wedding. The best part of this show is getting to see four different weddings, and watching the women throw shade at each other in hopes of winning the competition.
