As someone who has most certainly mastered Netflix and chill, I have a few suggestions to those who can never figure out what to watch. Netflix has many hidden gems, you just have to know where to look. You can't judge a show on it's thumbnail, that's that saying, right? Sure you could be basic and watch what's under "trending now," but the world can only take so many House of Cards fans. So mix it up, take a chance on me, and my supreme Netflix Knowledge. Background for each show will be provided for further convincing.
1. "Bob's Burgers"
OKAY. This is my favorite show of all time. As someone who currently enjoys watching Spongebob at age 20, I can appreciate cartoons for what they are...hilarious. Bob's Burgers is centered around Bob and his family working in their burger restaurant. I want my future family to be exactly like them. The kids are best friends and are always going on adventures and the mom brings tears to my eyes because of how funny she is. They also have a crazy amount of guest stars, aka Aziz Ansari. So why wouldn't you want to watch it? ALLRRIIGGHHTT. *Linda voice*
2. "3rd Rock from the Sun"
This unique sitcom might be from the year i was born (1996), but that has not decreased its value. It stars The dad from Harry and the Hendersons and a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt. They come with two others from another planet disguised as humans. They have to learn the human ways of life and study others in the process. Their struggle to grasp the culture and societal norms has us falling out of our chairs. It's an easy watch, and can cheer anyone up.
3. "Degrassi Next Class"
Now hear me out on this. I know you all watched 'Degrassi" as kids, so why not try it out again? It's not as juvenile as you'd expect, and it is fun to laugh at the trivial problems of a 16-year-old. I made my boyfriend watch it and he will never admit this, but he loved it. It sucks you into their world, and makes you nostalgic about your high school days. If anything, watch it because it's a classic, and Spinner told me he thinks you're cute. ALSO, Drake would be proud.
4. "Freaks and Geeks"
Although there is only one season, you will manage to fall in love with this cast. It's another show about high school. Half is about a young boy and his geeky friends and the other is his sister and her stoner friends, hence the name. I found it unique because it wasn't about the popular kids at all and it stars James Franco. You will wish there were more seasons, I know I do.
5. "Weeds"
Weeds is about a mom of two whose husband dies and she has no job or degree to get a job. Her solution is to begin selling weed. It's quite fun to watch this suburban mother try and figure out the drug dealing lifestyle and the seasons take you on a wild ride of shoot outs and scandals. Nancy is my hero, but the messes she gets herself into will make you scream at your television. Plus her oldest son gets so hot in the later seasons... *swoon*
