The Youth at my College Church

How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. -Psalm 119:9

As I just got back to college this week, one of the main things I was ready to do was see my college church family! I was honestly so blessed to find a wonderful church 10 hours from my home church where they love God, worship Him, and believe whole heartedly in the word of God. Of course, every service there is wonderful, but this Sunday I received an extra special blessing.

There are quite a lot of youth at my church. They range from babies to high school seniors. There were a lot of them there last semester, but there were definitely new faces in the congregation Sunday (or new to me.) isn't it wonderful that the numb e of young people there is still growing? I know these kids are inviting their friends to come with them and that is just uplifting. They want to share the gospel with their friends! Honestly that is just a blessing in itself that they choose to go to God's house instead of going to the limitless number of places the world offers them to go instead. They truly do not let the fact that they are younger stop them from living for God and trying to do what He asks of them. But let me just tell you a little more about the youth here.

They are amazing.

I do not say that loosely. These kids are truly wonderful. I cannot even think of the words to describe them. These kids do things most adults would never think about doing.

They testify.

They request prayer for those in need.

They worship God wholeheartedly.

They are not afraid to go to the altar.

They are not afraid to ask for prayer for themselves and the issues they face in life.

They help out with numerous tasks within the church.

They help lead worship.

They pray for and with each other.

They are willing to do whatever is asked of them

They let God use them in ways I do not think they even realize they are being used.

They bless me in ways I cannot even describe.

This last Sunday, I witnessed them do it all. I don't think they realize the impact their actions have had on me. I watched them bring their problems to Jesus. I watched them all file out of the pews to go to the altar to pray for each other. I watched them grow in the Lord and let His light shine so bright within them. I hope and pray that they continue to do what they are doing. They will mess up in life. Hard times will come. However I pray they never forget where to go and who can take it all away. It wasn't that long ago I was in their shoes, and I know they need my prayers. They need your prayers. I pray that they continue to let the Lord use them in ways they never imagined and that they continue to live for Him no matter what may come.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
