We all want to get the best out of our college experience. Here are 20 suggestions for how to do so.
1. Have a road trip or travel abroad trip with friends.
You've seen those road trip movies before. Oh, the glory of wandering about in a beautiful foreign land with friends. Whether it be the Alps, the Cook Islands, Canada, or any state close by, a trip is still a treat--and an adventure.
2. Go to at least one "rave"
Because it might actually be fun if you're with friends, and careful--enjoy the night, even if you choose to refrain from certain activities.
4. Finally get that license or ANY coming-of-age item.
We all have dreams. Maybe driving in that brand new Lambo...or that Volkswagen.
5. Go to a sporting event
Regardless of how bad your football team is, or if you're at Brandeis, how great your Ultimate Frisbee team is, you should support them! Celebrate the hard work of individuals who represent your school.
6. Go to a concert in the city nearest you.
Whether it's that new band that a friend wants to introduce you to, or Spring Fest, this is a great opportunity to have fun and is another event full of photographs to stash into your "memory" album.
7. Join a club you are passionate about.
This can be something as relaxing as the cupcake club, to something as huge as Amnesty International. Just do what suits your mood. Enjoy what your colleagues have to offer.
8. Get a part-time job or internship.
These can be quite useful for later jobs or late job applications. Your part-time gig or internship can go on your resume, and can also be financially smart considering all that tuition money you've spent.
9. Try a new food you've never tried before (maybe from the school cafeteria).
This could be delicious...or interesting.
10. Do something completely crazy and spectacular.
Because you only have one life to live! Just try not to kill yourself in the process. Get your adrenaline pumping!
11. Attend a campus-run theater production.
Rather than dealing with drama outside of the theater, how about you deal with it inside one?
12. Explore your city.
The best way to live life is to LIVE IT.
13. Learn new things from friends (like how to "nae nae").
Learning doesn't just happen in the classroom.
14. Pull a non-study all-nighter.
Maybe don't stay up the ENTIRE night, but definitely stay up for part of it. Perhaps sleeping over with a friend, playing board games, or kicking back with a movie.
15. Host a prospective student.
Teach a student about how to deal with the school environment. Get them excited to learn and experience new things.
16. Talk to that huge-lecture-hall professor
We've all felt a bit intimidated by some (or all) of them. They're more approachable than you may think.
17. Go on a shopping spree with friends (once you get that job).
A small shopping spree from time to time won't hurt.
18. Attend an art or science festival.
These can be exciting and innovative. Boston has plenty all year round!
19. Organize a fundraiser.
There are plenty of people and organizations in the world that could use your help. Your commitment to social justice is just as important as the knowledge you've obtained.
